Dim display on Cambridge Soundworks 88CD

The display on my Cambridge Soundworks 88CD has recently become very dim - too dim to see. When any button is pressed, the display lights up for a few seconds (such as when changing the radio station or increasing the volume), but then the lights go dim again. Is there a way to keep the display lit all the time?

I found the manual online (not easy to find). To toggle between "display on" and "display off", you have to press two buttons on top of the radio at the same time - "INFO" and "REPEAT". Intuitive feature, no? (My cats seemed to have figured it by themselves out by jumping on the machine...)

I can't find a manual for this but my guess would be there is a setting for the Display to dim it at all times unless you touch a control.

So we have a solution. Good. I hate when they do that Vulcan Mind Meld button combo with no labeling.

Digital display goes dark from time-to-time...

Most likely its the digital display is burnin out, If your farmilar with electronics and soldering, you can just order the part and replace it yourself. If not shop around for a cheaper rrepair technician in your area.

How do i replace burned out lightbulb in my in my cambridge soundworks cd - 740 clock radio ?

I believe the problem is either a faulty light sensor the unit has to dim the display when the lights dim since it was designed for bedroom use with alrms and snooze button. or it is simply a failure in the circuit that drives the LCDs. Mine has been dim for a long time but I can still see just enough to adjust the sound settings. I tune and set stations by sound. so the display has not been an issue since we do not use it for a clock or alarm. I doubt there is a fix for the dim display.

Cambridge soundworks 740 display too dim

Mine is dim also. Apparently sending it in for repair is not an option.

Unfortunately, the CD740 radio has reached end of service life. Parts are no longer available & we cannot repair them. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you need further assistance, please call us at -800-367-4434, Monday - Friday 9AM to 6PM central time.

My Cambridge SoundWorks 88CD is not working...no display, no sound, the CD doesn't spin. Any hints? Thank you.

A couple of possibilities- If there is no fuse holder on the rear of the box, it may not be user-replaceable but soldered onto an internal board. If it has blown, either there has been a component failure in the power supply that caused the fuse to fail or the supply is not starting up as it should, a problem caused by cheap capacitors in certain areas of the supply. Unless you have at least a multimeter, this is not a good choice as a DIY repair.

I would like to obtain SERVICE/REPAIR manuals for my Cambridge Soundcraft 88CD and CD740 clock radios. Thank you! Don

I don't believe you will find the Service Manuals generally available online. You would likely need to obtain these from a technician working in an authorized dealer location. If nonone has been able to respond to your request at this point I would recommend you contact Cambridge Soundworks directly to see if they can and are willing to provide. Their contact information can be found here:
