We have the Whirlpool Gold and get water the front outside dispenser but not to the icemaker. Is this something we can fix ourselves?

could be bad solinoid, only letting water to dispencer, u could switch sol leades to see if water goes to ice maker, but check ti make icemaker is on first

If this is your water dispenser leaking
Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

it could be water valve or ice maker that has gone bad.check all connectins to icemaker and tubing to icemaker and water valve.

the module on the icemaker may be bad or the emitter-recever

remove back panel inside freezer. you will see a tray at the bottom with a drain hole in the middle and this is blocked with ice. melt ice off with a hairdryer and follow up with hot water till water flows away freely

There could be a number of problems. Some ways to try to find the problem would be to check and see if there is ice in the icemaker which would mean there is probably something wrong with the mechanism that empties the trays. Or if there isnt any ice, there there is something wrong with the water dispensing system. If you can figure either of those things out it would help in figuring out how to fix it.

check to see if you have a leak either on the inside or the outside of the freezer door.

check your icemaker line and see if anything is freezing up.

from the sounds of it, something is stopping the water flow into the icemaker.

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.
