IT FINALLY WORKS !!!!
Sandisk Tech support had me do the following:
- Turn it OFF
- Put it in the HOLD position
- HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in.
At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.
He also had me to:
- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM
- In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT
I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.
If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually HELP.
GOOD LUCK
Tried the solution above and it worked!! Thanks for helping solve the issue. I think that vickisanchez meant to put the HOLD button on LOCK (lowest setting) and held the middle button down. Thats what worked for me. Thanks again.
Out of all the other solutions, this one worked. Thanks to you, I am now able to use my Sansa Updater to further fix my mp3.
This worked perfect, thank you
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!! And did I happen to mention..... THANK YOU!!

My computer does not recognize my sansa clip anymore and I have no disk and can not find a place to download the driver. Please Help.
I have the same problem, my computer is not recognicing my sanza, I call the number of technical suport and they told me the same. I tried to download from the downloads the driver and not work.
Please help
When your sansa is plugged in your computer try locating the device manager
I tried holding the off switch for up to a full minute, both plugged into the computer and not. I tried pressing the center button for up to a full minute, both plugged into the computer and not. I tried holding the right arrow and the volume up button, both plugged into the computer and not. These didn't do a thing.
Called the Sansa number again and spoke with a different person. He made some comment about "having an expensive paperweight." Apparently this is a widespread issue with Sansa Clips. They have recalled a bunch of them. They are sending me a new 4 GB one free.
I have a sansa clip 1gb and my computer does not recognise it!!!!
are there any drivers for that ?
thanks
I have Vista. Trying to download books from Audible.com. I had to change the "USB" to "MSC" in settings. Now it works.
I had the same problem. I switched to a different USB cord and all is well. The other USB cord was fine but very long. I surmise that the Sansa clip has a very low amperage output and must use a shorter cord so that the data signal does not attenuate.
I plugged my sansa disk into another computer and now my computer does not say that i ever had sansa in my file!! what do i do and why did this happen?!!
I still cant find thaT driver

mying dint come with a disk what do i do to get the computer to notice it i have xp
my computer is nor recognizing the sansa clip mp3 player and iam not finding the proper drivers for the instrument.i even lost the installation cd.what can i do now????
My computer will not recognize my Sansa Clip (2 MB black). The player itself says it is plugged in, but my computer gives me absolutely no indication that it even registers anything being plugged in. I left it plugged in overnight (six hours at least) and it did not charge at all - I turned it on in the morning and it said "Battery Low" and shut off. I have tried different cables, different USB ports, restarting my computer, all to no avail. The player was given to me by a friend a couple of weeks ago, with no CD or anything, but it had been operating fine without software until this last weekend.
I have downloaded the Device Recovery program, it took two seconds (to do a procedure that it said would take "several minutes") and told me to call an 866 number. That person I talked to took me through a number of different steps, pressing different buttons on my player, but it is hard to get the player to do anything when it DOESN'T HAVE POWER. I downloaded the Driver Updater, and it did nothing. I have tried the Add Hardware wizard, and again nothing. I have read about switching it to MSC mode, but how do I do that without power?
The problem must be with the player itself, because both my computer at work (Windows ME) and my computer at home (Windows XP Pro) stopped recognizing it at the exact same time. It is hard to believe that both computers (with different operating systems) would start having problems at the exact same time.
Please help! I love my Sansa Clip, if I can just get it to work!

HELP MEEEEE!!!!!
HEADS UP, new option!
I spent a few days on this in
utter frustration, tried everything anyone has suggested. My Sansa Clip
2GB was toggling back and forth between connected and disconnected.
Drove me nuts and I ordered a new one and started sending flame to the
person on bought this one from on eBay.
Turned out to be: THE USB CABLE!
The
USB cable that shipped from Sandisk is bad, flaky connection. Turns out
the previous owner ignored it because it's so short. Used another
longer one. I switched to a new cable and the Clip works perfectly!
So if you are getting weird behavior, especially irratic or a change in behavior, swap out the USB cable.
my disc drive is broken and i need another way to install the sansa clip program onto my computer
