Soap door won't open during wash cycle

The soap door doesn't open to get the soap into the wash cycle. After the cycle completes the soap door is still closed, or it may be open but the soap packet is still in the dispenser.

Soap dispenser won't open during wash cycle. Once the soap dispenser won't open, the dishwasher stops and all the LED lights blink on the display.

We figured it may be the dispenser or the actuator has gone bad--I'm sorry for my ignorance, but what does pcb stand for?

    Thanks so much.

Mine just started doing that. When I googled it I found a site that said not to use powerball in the dishwasher like what is in the electrosol tablets. We are on our second box of using them, never had any problems before. It said that the Powerball tablet has excess foam that is damaging switches that control the door. We are going to try and figure out how to fix it and stop using that detergent.

After washing cycle is complete, soap bubbles still remain in the bottom of dishwasher. I have to do another rinse cycle to completely rid dishwasher of all the soap bubbles.

I have personally had this happen as a result of placing a dish in front of the dispenser door. If yours does this constantly, either the solenoid that operates the latch is defective, a connector is loose, or the control board that activates the solenoid has failed. Check to be sure the door moves freely by hand. If it binds at any time other than closed, that could be your culprit. Let us know...

The soap door will not open during wash cycle, I tried both short wash & reg wash.

The only experience that I have with this type problem was from having dishes blocking the soap door. You can tell if this is the problem when you open the door. The soap door will then open and the soap will run down the door.

The soap door does not open during the wash cycle

Hi

Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't receive 120 volts, then it'll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax motor/Bi-metal strip; also inspect the connections to these.

Hope this helps...

The soap compartment will not open during the wash cycle.

Hi

If this strip is not heated doesn’t allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) Maytag dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn’t receive 120 volts, then it’ll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax motor/Bi-metal strip, also inspect the connections to these.

The water isn't getting hot

If the water to your kitchen tap is above 120 to around 145 your machine is getting hot water. If not your need to adjust your hot water heater.
It is fine to open the DW door during the wash cycle. The unit will hold the wash cycle. Open the door during the start of the wash cycle (not rinse) and see it the dispenser door is open. If not it could be the timer is not sending the proper signal to the dispenser on when to open. This would be a timer issue and you would want to replace the timer. I doubt that this is it but it is possible.
Hope this helps.

Soap dispenser door does not open during wash cycle. it can be opened with the manual release.

close the soap door and put into diagnostics. most models you can do so by pushing heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal. let it do its test and if the soap door opens during the test cycle, most likely the soap door assembly needs to be changed.

GLD6500 Series Dishwasher -- soap dispenser has

Yes that's normal for that machine. The soap has to be washed out of the soap drawer by the top spray arm turning, and that's usually the problem - the arm isn't turning. Check both spray arms for blocked jets at the very end - remove blockages with a pin and water flow from tap. In the worst case, you may need a new spray arm - but they are usually cheap.
More points to remember - on a rapid 30 minute wash program only, if you are using wash tablets, don't put them in the soap drawer as there wont be enough time for them to dissolve. put the tabs in the cutlery basket. Also - a dishwasher is not a garbage disposal unit, and uneaten food must be scraped of plates before putting them in the dishwasher. Run a dishwasher cleaner through now and then, or do a full program wash with nothing in the machine to clean it out and to keep spray arms clear.

The soap dispenser opens but the soap is not dispensed and the dishes do not get cleaned. Can you help?

Make sure that there is nothing blocking the soap door from opening fully when the dishwasher is shut. This happened to me and I also thought that the soap door was opening during the cycle when it actually only partially opened during the wash and then popped open fully when I opened the dishwasher at the end of the cycle. So some, but not all, of the soap was used.
