Does anyone know how to remove the lens on an A540. I have a new lens to replace the broken one in my camera. I cannot find any help for taking out the old lens.

I have a similar problem.. kind of opposite! The lens cover on my A540 popped off. I see alot of people on this site have had problems with their shutters, etc. I don't even know where mine popped off! I just noticed when I took it out of the case one day that the lens was fully exposed :/ Any idea where I can get one.. cheap?

This is a difficult camera to replace the lens on just FYI. After removing the case. remove the LCD and the side that contains the Flash compasitor. WATCH OUT FOR THAT COMPASITOR. it packs a 330 volt bite. I can put it in for you sience you already have the lens it would only cost you about 40.00 labor if you want if not you might find a service manual on ebay. for my contact info goto www.digitalcamrepair.com .

I have a vivitar telephoto lens for the camera, but not sure how to mount the lens. If I take the outer ring off, I dont know if the lens that came with the camera is suppose to also unscrew, or if there...

None of these Canon Powershot cameras have a lens which will remove.
The ring is only for a special kind of add on lens for either wide angle or telephoto, which will only fit this camera or possibly a few other models.

Never try to unscrew the lens, you will ruin the lens permanently.

Partly open lens

the mechanical part that is trying to open the lens cover is having a problem

Possibly

1. a lodged piece of foreign material

2. A broken piece within the camera is interfering

3. A piece in the camera that helps control the lens or another piece by the lens is out of place

Please check this out if you are comfortable doing so and let me know what comes of it

Thank you

White stripes

This is a problem with your camera lens. Either the digitizer, or the shutter. Either way you will need a new lens, or camera circuitry.

Lcd screen is broken

If you do a Google search for 'digital camera parts' the first listing is a website that can help you. The LCD is $55 with shipping. The website name is: Darntoothysam com, then search by your camera model numer, A540.

How do I know this? I own the business, that's how. We specialize in LCD and lens repair for affordable prices. If we can help please let us know.

Problem with Canon digital camera PowerShot A540

This has nothing to do with removing the battery. This problem is common in digital cameras especially canon. There are a few things you can try

1: Place the camera flat onits back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutterbutton down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The ideais that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.

2:Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the ideaof blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens.Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat”setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one).

And the third fix. Well there is some potential of damagin the camera but may people have reported to have got it working by a systematic whacking procedure.

Stuck in camera mode, little switch fell off.

Has anyone tried a hard reset on their camera by removing the main power batteries for 60 seconds and the reinserting them as if it were the first time power up. This may not fix your particular problem, but when the processor that runs all of the electronic features of the camera gets confused, this is the best way to clear its confusion.
