Idler pully What's up guys? I have an 80 series Kenmore dryer and the idler pulley came off during a move. The dryer is a couple years old but it was only used for about 4 months. It has been sitting in storage. :( When I put the idler in place, it doesn't even touch the belt and it wont stay in place. I don't think the belt is stretched cuz it use barely used. Why wont the idler stay in place and can the belt stretch without being used? Thanks for your help.

There has to be a spring on the idler to keep it pulled against the belt

I have a Kenmore Electric Series 80 Dryer that the drum inside won't turn but it heats up and smells hot like something is burning. I can however turn it manually.

Remove the top and the front panel to remove the drum after you purchase a belt and teh idler pulley that Sears selles for your dryer. The pulley's bearing has froze up causing the belt to burn up and falling off

I just replaced the motor in my Kenmore Series 90 dryer, When I'm running the dryer with no heat it runs as quite as could be expected for a ten year old dryer, When I run with heat the dryer starts making...

It could be possibly your rear roller bearings expanding with heat causing them to not spin as freely? Im not really too sure but its an idea you dont have many moving parts on the unit. Just your idler pulley, blower wheel, and rollers. Hope this helps.

Cant install my belt back on my idler pully on my kenmore 80 series dryer . the idler pully i have is a piece of metal below but it does not open up so the belt will go through. i am missing something but...

Howdy: Check for the bolts that hold the pully on. Loosen the bolts and the pully should stat to open. You may have to put on the belt then install the pully. Look close at it. Good luck - Doug

With the Kenmore series 80 Dryer plugged in, Pressing the start button causes the motor to hum as if the belt, pully or motor is frozen. The drum doesn't turn during the humming and is difficult to turn...

You'll need to remove the back panel and determine the cause. Look for:

Seized drum support rollers (3)
Seized drive and/or idler pulleys
Burned out or seized motor
Possible bad motor start capacitor (if equipped)
Drum alignment

KENMORE SERIES 80 DRYER..The Tensioner use it or not and how?

To fit the new belt, you will need the idler pulley (tensioner)...

The idler pulley fits in the slots on the bottom of the cabinet (in front of the motor) with the wheel or glide facing the left side. Place the belt (grooves inward) around the drum. Pull the belt through the middle of the idler pulley from the left side. Once the belt is pulled through the idler pulley, pull it around the motor pulley (this should force the idler pulley to "open up" and add tension).

If you still need help, I will try to provide you with a diagram shortly.
Good luck!
