You need to reset the password for your router .Press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds. This will clear your NVRAM, the configuration and reset the password to admin. Username is not required.

If you didn't change any settings on the router then you don't need the CD. You can also download the wizard at linksys website.

Linksys password recovery

Computer Hope does not assist users in bypassing this security measure. If this is your router and you've forgotten the username or password we suggest that the router be hard reset and then setup with a new username and password.
Default username and password

Before doing a hard reset on the router you may want to try the default username and password. While this is not the same for all routers, this may allow you access to your router.

Username: Admin or Administrator
Password: <Blank>, try just pressing enter or try "admin" as the password as well.

If this does not work and you believe the router is using the default username and passwords try viewing the default settings at routerpasswords.com.
Resetting your router

If the default username and password doesn't work it's likely you or someone whose setup your router has enabled a password that has been forgotten. Thankfully most routers will have a small pinhole button on the back or bottom of the router (like that shown in the picture to the right), pressing this button in and holding on this button for 10-15 seconds will hard reset the router. After this has been done setup the router again and enter a username and password that you can write down.
hope this helps

I have linksys wireless router and am trying to get wi fi on a recently purchased Kindle but Have forgotten my Linksys password. Please help

Hi nancylousdol,

If you have forgotten your password you can reset the router to its factory state and setup a new password for it. Resetting the router will wiped out all changes that have been saved. To reset the router, look for the small hole at the back of it. Press and hold it for 10-15 seconds using a Pen or Paperclip. Then access the router settings page so that you can personalize the settings.

For you to access your router you need a working computer that is connected to the router and open a browser type 192.168.1.1 to he address bar and it will ask you for a username and password. The default username is "leave it blank" and the default password is admin.

Rate me if this helps so i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya

I have a new computer and have forgotten my password to protect me .Can i make a new password by installing the set up disc in my apple?

If you have forgotten the password for your Linksys router and are not able to connect your new computer then try and follow the below steps:
WARNING: This would reset the router to it's factory settings (it generally does make a difference unless it's a gateway & you don't remember your ISP credentials. In your case it should be OK)
1. at the back of you Linksys you'll see a red button that says Reset2. Press and hold it for 30 seconds (this to set your router to default settings)3. Now open a web browser (say Safari) & go to http://192.168.1.14. Leave Login as blank and for password enter "admin"5. You should now see the Basic Setup page, at the top click on Administration option6. Under Management web page you'll see 2 text boxes, you should enter a password of your choice here (this would secure your router). At the bottom of the page click on Save Settings7. You'll be asked to login again, use the password you just entered
Your Linksys router is not secured. Hope this helps, please let me know if you need further assistance.

I need the driver wgt624 v3

The router's doesn't require driver to work. It can be setup using the router's Admin page. Try to reset it first, make sure you have a broadband connection. Connection should be as follows

Modem > Internet port of router
Computer > port 1 of the router
