E-Machines Bestec ATX-300-12E Rev. D 300w E-Machine GTW Power Supply Part 100929 (ATX30012E) Power Supply Logo

Please Help! I THINK I have a bad power supply (a bestec atx-300-12eb3 rev s2 from a Sony Vaio VGC-RB30). Power will no longer come on at all, however I do have a blinking green light on the back of the power supply. I have taken it apart and do see some evidence of high temperature near some plastic capacitor shielding, but who knows. I guess my 1st question before buying a new power supply or tearing down the PC further, is does anyone know if this model has a fuse or a reset switch? Cannot find any diagrams, etc. I do know a lot of people seem to have had similar issues, but in my experience, if a PSU is totally fried, it would be hard to flash that green light... then again I suppose that is what it is there for! Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you! WhiteHatH4x0r

Ok first you disconnect the power supply from motherboard then measure the output voltage if it is ok then there is two wires green and black at o/p of power supply short green and black and see fan is rotating or not if rotating then power supply is ok if not then open the power supply check ac voltage in the pcb if present then check dc voltage after bridge rectifier and ckeck part by part

First, If you know how to use a meter proceed. If not use caution when checking around the input as most run 400VDC Bulk at the large Cap and switchers. Check the output area on board for a -12V label. Trace it back to either an LM7912 (TO220 or TO92) they are usually in_Gnd_out. Trace from In side to the rectifier. Check for short I find a lot of these are shorted. If it checks OK then ohm out the rest of the output Rectifiers to see if any are shorted. If they check Ok come back on line and we will move on to next area.

There is any different between this mother board p/n 51884327 and p/n 51882625

Take the power supply to a retailer or computer shop in your local area. Pretty standard from what I have found out.

When compter is turned on the only thing that runs is the fan. The monitor does not display anything. Can you please tell me what you think happend. Husband took out the power bestec atx-300-12e. and...

power supplies are common failures..a 300Watt ATX power supply is not very expensive these days so it would be an inexpensive way to see if this is the problem..the brown spot concerns me though..seems maybe you have a filter in the supply that may have leaked electrolyte...if you have another computer with the same type of supply in it..you can try it..as long as the plugs are the same and the wattage is the same or higher

Due to an electrical outage, desktop computer (Sony Vaio VGC-RB30), lost power and would not reboot. A small blinking green light on the back panel was the only thing happening. Is this a hard disc problem...

this usually mean the power supply went bad and is in safe mode.(so other component in the computer won't get damaged) try unplugging the computer from the wall and wait 10 minutes. If you plug it in and the green light is still flashing the power supply is the most likely thing that is wrong. you can take the power supply to a local repair shop and they can test it in a few seconds. my guess is that it is bad. I have a Sony VAIO VGC-RB43 desktop with a Bestec ATX-300-12EB3-Rev.S3 power supply. The computer will not power up. The fans will not come on. Measuring DC volts on pin 9 (purple) of the mother board ATX...

Open the power supply case (be careful due to high voltages within the power supply) and look for swollen (tops are domed) or burst capacitors (tops have cracked open due to excessive swelling and the electrolitic fluid has leaked out). We have found this to be a regular problem for systems that have been running constantly for a long period of time. Also, look at the power caps on your mainboard (big ones nearest the CPU) and check for swelling or bursting. I just had tis issue with a Sony Vaio in that the caps in the power supply had started to swell. The system continually rebooted. Have seen the caps on MB's burst as well.

Actually no, the power does continually comes in but, when stopped, the PS is in a state that could be assimilated to stand-by - only a small side circuit is continually operational.
