Unfortunately that means either your windows installation is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled or the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. If you do not have a windows xp disc you will need a technician to do this as you will not be able to without the disc. If you do have a disc however follow these steps.

First insert the windows XP disc into the drive
Then when the machine says press any key to boot from CD press enter
Wait for the windows setup to load completely
Then highlight the windows XP partition it should be labeled windows XP
Then hit R on the keyboard
This will start a repair installation of windows

If the windows disc cannot find the hard drive or the repair does not completely unfortunately it means that the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

Is there a way to get the 32 bit or 64 bit windows XP to install on a dell inspiron 6000 ?

as far as i can find out because windows xp does not exists anymore plus xp does not update anymore according to microsoft.
some new laptops will not allow windows xp to be put on..
if your laptop was xp to start with then it should work.
To specify the boot sequence.
  1. Start the computer and press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the initial startup screen. ...
  2. Choose to enter BIOS setup. ...
  3. Use the arrow keys to select the BOOT tab. ...
  4. To give a CD or DVD drive boot sequence priority over the hard drive, move it to the first position in the list..
  5. try and boot your disc this way if it still wont have it then your laptop may not allow it.

My Window Xp on my mini note book a file has been corrupt file missing so it wont load windows

Try booting in safe mode.

Switch on you note book, while its booting press F8 several times, this should bring up a black screen with several boot options, choose "Safe Mode"

This will load windows shell programme.

Once loaded click on Start - All Programmes - Accessories - System tools - System Restore.

Select a restore point prior to when you first had a problem and let your pc do the rest.

If you can't do a system restore for what ever reason, you'll have to do a system recovery, this tends to dump your data.

Starting problem

Immediately after seeing the Dell logo, keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "menu" (white text over a black background)
giving "startup" options for Windows XP.

Select "Safe Mode" and see if you can start in that mode.
Then, use "System Restore" to go "back" in time, to the most-recent checkpoint (date/time) where your computer _DID_ work.

Restore to that point, and restart.

Toshiba satellite wont boot up windows just black screne with pointer arrow

While your laptop is trying to start up, press the F8 key several times. This should give you several start up options. Select start in safe mode.

This will load a stripped down version of windows. Click on Start - all programmes - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore (This for XP, Vista and Win7 slightly different) and select a restore point priort to when the problem started.

Wont boot into windows xp....

If you have the setup disk, boot the laptop with the system disk and when you are asked select repair.

The system either was attacked by Malware or became corrupted.

Windows does not boot

This sounds like a reformating job required here. You need your Windows CDROM and it is important that it is your own and not regitered to your friend outwise you aere going to have the same problem later when you are asked to validate Windows.

Boot your PC, Open the DVD/CD player draw and put the Windows disk in, switch off your PC. Reboot your PC and press Del to go into setup, in setup press the down arrow once and press enter, on this page halfway down or there about you will see First Boot -------Second Boot---Its the first boot one you want , set it to CDROM by pressing + touch nothing else, now press F10 then press enter. Your PC should now be Booting to CD.
It will run on to a point where you have to choose a partion to format Choose C or 1.
After that it wont need you attention for quite a while, it will automatically start installing Windows files upto the point where it needs the Product Key, after that you will need to configure the keyboard settings then the rest the PC does. Good luck.
