Furnace short cycles

Furnace cycles properly for about 6 minutes, then shuts off.
Then it will fire up again about 10 minutes later, cycle properly again for 6 minutes, then shut down.
It continues this cycle for 2 days now.
I shut it off at the stat until I need heat again.

You could have a bad overtemp sensor which is activating at too low a tempreture. They should not be that expensive. I would just replace it to eliminate the control if it is bad. It is a small metallic disc attached to the heat excanger. Has two wires coming off it. Approximately 1 inch in diameter. Usually on the front of the heat exchanger. It should have the tempreture that it activates at stamed on it. The temp is probably in celceus. Prior to replaceing it you could determine the activation temp and if you have a thermometer, or better yet an infared thermometer, check it while running to see what temp it activates at. If it is bad it will activate at too low a tempreture and should be replaced. Let me know if you need anymore help.

Until now this unit has never had the compressor run without the fan. Is the compressor running without the fan a problem? If so, what can I do to correct it?

Possibly a tstat issue. Run system until satisfied, once satisfied indoor fan shuts down compressor still runs remove tstat face plate and see if compressor shuts down. Another issue could be a sticking contactor for compressor. With a meter you could check at the contactor to see if you lose your 24volts for cooling but contactor remains pulled in.

Heil h9mpv075f12d1 90000 btu Turns on fine, runs 5-6 minutes at slow fan speed. Then flame shuts off. Then for about 45 seconds fan goes to higher speed. Repeats this cycle over and over.

Why does my furnace run then stop? A common reason a furnace short cycles is because the heat exchanger, the part that heats your air, is getting too hot due to a lack of airflow. Once the heat exchanger overheats, it trips the high limit switch, which shuts the furnace down to protect it.Dec 9, 2016

Rv furnace stopped working

Quick call the installer to see if it is still under warranty. There is something wrong if the motor is being replaced every other year. Most of the motors should be lubed with fan turbine oil and not 3 in 1, nor detergent containing oils. If the wrong oil is used, the bearings will go south in 1 to 2 years.

Your Furnace is short cycling...cutting out too soon. I would call for service on this one. If it has a flame sensor and you know where it is, clean or replace the sensor. If there is a air/sail switch, make sure it is free to float/swing.

Does the furnace stays off?.
Furnace are ment to cycle on and off because of limits .If you set to 70 furnace would cycle several times before reaching that temperature.
Just make sure your filters are clean and you got proper return air flow because lack of air flow will cause furnace to shut off sooner than normal

Boy it sounds like a high limit opening up and shutting off the gas valve. It won't shut off the blower because it wants to cool off thge furnace. Check for any restriction in the air delivery system, filter, registers. Check for blockage of the exhaust vent.

If your furnace lights and the gas stays on for 8 to 10 seconds, then shuts right back off, then you need to clean your flame sensor with light sand paper or steel wool. You might need a new flame sensor, but most of the time they can be cleaned an will work well after cleaning.

Turn off the power to furnace.
on the last burner to light there is a small metal rod in front of the burner. This is a safety called the flame sensor. It is dirty. Unscrew it from the bar ( 1 Screw) unplug the connector wire from it and clean it with steel wool. it will be kind of burnt. Plut back in place and turn on the furnace to cycle.
