Firmware upgrade to GE-Thomson 28310 2 in 1 Skype/Landline phone

I just bought a GE brand Thomson model 28310 phone. I love the way it works with the base station and handset so I can get to Skype without having my computer turned on.

My problem is it came loaded with Version 101 of the firmware and I want to upgrade it to the latest version. It keeps saying "New software available for download" so I select Install and watch as it downloads Version 224. The instructions say to be patient since "The update typically lasts 15-60 minutes." So I leave it alone and come back in a couple hours.

It doesn't look like the upgrade is successful. When I select Firmware update off the Advenced menu, it still shows Current Firmware Version as 101. It lists Version 224 as the Latest Firmware but shouldn't the Current Version be 224?

    So, I'm having a similar issue flashing the firmware, except, rather than my handset returning to the home screen, it just continues to sit at "Data downloaded. Updating base..."

    The manual says to disconnect and reconnect the base station power if the update has not completed within 2 hours. I did so after nearly 3 hours. The base station's light began flashing for a period of time, then became solid. At no time has the handset's display changed.

    Does anybody have any ideas?

    Hello

    I'm having a worse problem.... I just can't make my GE 28310 receive an IP address from my Lynksys router.
    I've tried everything (reset, changing router configuration etc).
    Can anybody please give any hints ? I'm almost throwing the damn thing against the wall.

To AnisioSP:
I suggest that you should have a good look at its manual and Troubles Parts.You'd better have DHCP of the Router work,then the handset is set Dynnamic Mode(Advanced---Innternet options)

You must leave the handset in the base charger. Otherwise it would not complete.

Make sure the aerial is extended, most have one on the base unit. Resetting is achieved by remove all the batteries and mains plugs for an hour.

  1. Disconnect the main base unit from the power supply and the telephone line.
  2. Remove the batteries from all of the handsets for approximately 1 hour.
  3. Re-insert the batteries into the handsets and power up the base unit.

Ge skype phone
This sounds like a problem with your actual Skype account and not your physical phone. You can use Skype normally, but "Skype Out" (calling land lines) costs money, and the system doesn't seem to think you have any credit on your account.

Try this:
1) Check your configuration on the phone and double check the Skype account username is the one you have credit on.

2) Login to Skype on a computer with the same account. Call someone's land line and confirm a call can connect.

If you can't connect to a land line there (but your Skype account shows you have credit), contact Skype support - there's something wrong on their end that they will have to fix.
If you can connect just fine, try clearing and resetting the user account settings on the phone. If it still doesn't work, try connecting it to a different network (go to Starbucks and use their wifi or something).

Did you set the "ring-volume" to 'zero' ?
Did you set the current "ring-tone" to a 'quiet' audio-clip?

1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the power chord from base station.
3. Leave it idle for 2 hrs.
4. Put back battery, connect the power chord.

Dialling from computer then taking call on phone?
Hi zappawo, This is impossible with the Philips VOIP321. A design flaw. You have to live with it or buy another one, like the GE/Thomson GE21878. I bought the GE with this question in mind. The GE does take over the calls from the screen to the handset. As it should be.
