To change your MTU settings download a program called DrTCP (google for it) then change the MTU size of your Internet connection, try 1465 and keep dropping it until you get a figure that works...

You can also check out xbox support site for more information on MTU settings here

SOURCE: how do I change my MTU settings?

Today would be a bad time to test for a connection issue with XBox Live. It is down today for maintenance, if it worked before today, I would just wait until tomorrow and try again.

Hey i have a thomson TG782T and i am trying to connect an xbox 360 elite to xbox live through an ethernet cable and i am having the mtu error come up. i already have an xbox 360 slim connected which works...

Maximum transmission unit is 1500, but for the Xbox 360 it "must" be set within the range 1364 - 1492
Since there's no MTU settings for the TG782T. your only choice is to replace it with routers like Linksys, Belkin, Netgear.

Change MTU settings on an RCA DCW 725

  • There are no user configurable options to cable modems, everything is based off the configuration file that your ISP pushes to the modem during registration.

  • Try connecting your XBOX directly

How can I change my mtu on my wireless router to be able to play xbox?

Xbox LIVE requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364. Usually, you can change your MTU setting from your router configuration web page, which is supplied by your router manufacturer.
Learn how to find and use your router configuration page
Look for the MTU setting on the router configuration page. When you find it, set it to Auto or 1364 (or higher), save your settings, and then try to connect to Xbox LIVE again on your console.

My mtu settings are not good i need to change them , i cant connect to xbox live

You must set your MTU in your modem/router just login to it and search for it in the configuration menu.
Usually you have to set it to 1492 though so if you should have set the MTU to 1364 already and it didnt work try this one as well.
For cable and DSL modems you should set it to 1492 in general as well for a proper connection.

The MTU is the maximum size that an IP-packet that is transfered across the internet may have just for general information.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Have xbox 360 and it says my MTU settings are too low. How do i rise the settting.

This is a common problem if your XBOX is connected through a router or gateway. What you need to do is to change the MTU setting of your router. The minimum setting for MTU should be 1364. If you are not familiar with the configuration of your router, you can contact the technical support of the router's manufacturer. You can also search google.com for the step by step instruction in changing the MTU of your router - do a google search for your router's brand and model + MTU setup.

Good luck and have a nice day!
