My Polaroid TLA-01511C has sound but no picture...what do I do

If you take a good look at the screen when it goes dark can you make out anything maybe some bright scenes on the channel you were watching or if you press the menu key, you can see a very dim display, you might need the back light assembly or something related to it.

No picture can be due to bad inverter circuits. This is an 15" TV, so more likely to be the same as 15" PC monitor with an added Tuner.
Bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR.
You need to find out if the inverter circuits is getting the 12~16vdc feeidng it, also see if the backlights even flashes on at all.
To repair down to component level will be difficult without diagram but can be done but with a lot of times needed.

Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

I replaced three capacitors on my power supply board and the unit started working again, There was two 680uf 10v caps and one 1500uf 10v cap bad.
