How do i use my PS3 with the hdmi cables only?

Use any HDMI cable to to this.

Connect cable to the "HDMI" port on the back of the PS3. Connect the other side of the HDMI cable to the "HDMI" port on the Toshiba TV. If the Toshiba TV has multiple HDMI ports, make note of which port you plugged the HDMI cable into.
Change the Toshiba TV to its "HDMI" video display mode. Press the "Power" button on the PS3 to turn the console on. The PS3 will automatically detect the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to use the audio and video from the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to have the PS3 automatically use the optimal settings for the Toshiba TV. Select "Yes" to accept the recommended resolution. Press the "X" button to save the settings

You MAY need an HDMI modulator to do that.

The PS3 can be hooked up to the tv using either a HDMI cable or the old RCA (Yellow, Red, White) cables. If you are having problems viewing a picture or hearing sound, here is some trouble shooting you might want to try.

Connect the PS3 using both the HDMI and RCA cables. select the HDMI input on your tv. turn on the PS3. If you cant see a picture, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps (this will take about 15 seconds). This resets the PS3 to the old RCA cables. Select the RCA input on your tv. Hopefully you can see the image and hear the PS3 now. Go to the settings on the PS3 and change the display settings to output video through the HDMI. Remember, your tv can only go as high as 1080i resolution, so you wont see anything if you select the 1080p resolution.

If this didn't work, you might have a bad signal though the HDMI cable. Unplug the tv and PS3 for atleast 30 minutes, and then connect the PS3 to the tv before you turn either one on.

If this doesn't help, then you might have a HDMI cable that isn't recognized by either your PS3 or your tv. Try replacing your HDMI cable.

As you already checked PS3 and HDMI cable,
select HDMI input in TV and connect PS3 via HDMI cable. TV should show PS3 picture.
And if still no joy then HDMI input port in TV is bad and need to replace input board/ main board.

Check the couplings at either end of the cable. Sometimes these will loosen and can cause a lack of signal strength.

but its probably not the cable, its probably the ps3. HDMI cables don't really break because they are just wires, they don't have moving parts. Try connecting your PS3 to your TV with the regular cable red, white, and yellow connectors that you got when you bough the PS3. If the PS3 doesn't work with the original red, white, and yellow connectors then you know its the PS3. you have to set it up on the ps3 for the cable

i had the same problem on the ps3 in settings there is hdmi cable set up make sure there set to hdmi and not to av wire

First put the orginal ps3 cable onto ps3 then to tv.set tv to see ps3 and go to ps3 setup,now down to display settings,set to hdmi,picture will go off so now switch tv to hdmi input .Next go to sound settings for ps3 and set to hdmi if your amp can work this way ,if not set sound out to optical.

PLUG THE STANDARD PS3 CABLE INTO PS3 THEN TO TV GO TO SET MENU FOR PS3 AND SET VIDEO OUT TO HDMI,PICTURE WILL GO OFF SO BE QUICK AND PUT HDMI CABLE INTO PS3 THEN TV,NOW SET AUDIO OUT PUT TO HDMI,THEN CONNECT TO AMP,IF YOU STILL GET NOTHING CHECK AMP SETTINGS IE INPUT SELECTION FOR HDMI.
