Check to make sure that your voltage setting is set correctly. Look
under the turntable platter. You'll see a voltage selector. Make sure
it's properly set for your area (115V or 220V). Do the lights dim
off/on? If so, than that is usually the problem. If not, then you might
have a faulty turntable drive issue, which means something is wrong on
the main board (located underneath the turntable platter).
If the issue is on the main board, then this is not an easy fix. FYI... the pitch fader will not affect the power, and make your lights dimm, so spraying it with De-Oxit will not do anything, other than clean it out.
BTW, we are an authorized Technics service center, and work on over 2 dozen Technics 1200s a week. We are THE experts here in the U.S. when it comes to these turntables hands down. So, if you have any questions, feel free to contact our Support Department, which is available 24/7 @ 1.877.357.7677 - or visit our main site HERE.

The speed on the TT is crystal controlled . If that circuit has got an "issue" the speed wont be right.
Also, try cleaning the pitch slider with stuff called Caig "De-Oxit"
Parts Express or Radio Shack sells it.
