Could not install windows xp service pack2

Are booting the laptop from the XP CD? If so it should just give you an option to delete partitions then format and install starts. If you try installing XP after Vista has loaded it wont let you as XP is older. Cheers from Scott

Maybe the sound driver is not designed for you OS or hardware. You can check the compatibility before installing.

Did this machine have Vista intalled originally? I checked Acers' support page for your model and I didn't see a xp sata driver.

get a mixer driver

go to bios setup n change sata driver to ATA from AHCI n  also disable da flash play module

That happens because the BIOS uses a SATA controller that is not included in Windows XP install disk.

Usually you can solve the problem going to BIOS settings and changing SATA/RAID settings.Check your BIOS settings, and disable SATA RAID mode.This is done in different ways depending on the BIOS.

On HP/Compaq computers for example you press F2 on startup to enter BIOS, then disable SATA mode on bios settings.
On other makes the procedure can be slightly different.

Another way to fix the problem, is by creating your own XP setup disk with SATA drivers included, see: Resolving "Setup did not find any hard disk drives" during Windows .

For a Compaq Presario C740TU Notebook PC running Windows XP, audio drivers would be for Conexant High-Definition Audio. Importantly, SoftPaq Number SP31994, "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio," (or later) must be installed on the notebook before installing SP32823.

1) Service Pack 2 is a service pack, not an operating system - you first have to install XP itself, which you'll have to buy.

2) It's entirely possible that there are no XP drivers available for one or more components of your laptop, so XP won't install on it. (Linux probably will.)

USE THE RECOVERY CD IT WILL BE OK
