Nikon coolpix S51

Bad CCD, this is like film in a film camera. If the CCD becomes faulty it can no longer record images. This as a rule unless you can repair yourself is a repair not worth doing.

Black screen on Canon S1 IS camera

If Canon S1 IS does not show picture in camera mode and show memory card stored pictures in playback then its CCD Imgaer problem and ccd imager will be replaced.
Canon will repair it free of cost, click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.

My screen is black or blank

I think you mean your automatic lens cover opens. A stuck shutter is a common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Black screen

OK, this might sound stupid, but I had the same problem with a similar camera and I had accidentally pushed the Display button. I was about to give my camera up for dead. Try pushing it (the little button on the bottom back that says Disp on it). Does that bring your image back? If not let me know and I'll research further.

Nikon Coolpix S1 - Need help.

This is a common, but unfortunately fatal problem with this model camera. Don't worry, your photos (if taken on the sd card) are all still safe and sound. Just transfer your photos to your computer.

There is nothing you can do that I know of to fix this. But there is a guy (I call him, "the cheap camera repair man"), who fixes this problem for thirty dollars. The website URL for him is:

http://www.dynamiccamera.com

I hope this helps!

No image on the scree

If you can play back images and they can be seen on the LCD monitor, then the problem is the CCD sensor ( see image below to get an idea what I am talking about ).Nikon fixes this problem  free of charge so that is good news for you. But if there is no image in playback mode then it might be the LCD monitor.Unfortunately this will not be repaired free of charge if your camera is out of warranty.ba67e42.jpg
