The wrong cartridge error is saying the printhead is bad and not the ink cartridges. You just need a new printhead. The confusing error comes from the translation from Japanese to english. The part number for your printhead is stamped on the side of the printhead, it's the number that starts withQY6...

I put new cartridges in my photosmart c7280 printer and keep getting a Wrong Cartridges message. No matter what I try (putting in previous working cartridges, cleaning points) nothing changes. HELP !

Try these 2 procedures:

1/
- Unplug the printer without turning it off.
- Press On for 1O seconds.
- Release the button and replug the printer.

2/

(Careful, this will erase the printer's memory, like printing queues etc.)
- Unplug the printer.
- Press simultaneously "#" and "6" and keep these buttons pressed.
- Replug the printer without releasing these buttons.
- The display will say " Stop " or something like this, then "semi full reset" . Release the buttons now.
- Start the printer now. It will ask you to set the language and the country. If it doesn't, repeat all steps.

Printer Canon Pixma

I had the same problem with Magenta 8. Apparrently there is a chip in the cartridges that has an expiration date that prevents the printer from recognizing the cartridge after that date. I called Canon to find out where that date is located on the cartridge or packaging so when I buy them on sale as I did, I will be aware how long it's good for. They told me that there is no expiration date and the ink is good indifinitely. I told them what I heard about the chip and was promptly put on hold. When they got back on the phone, they told me they were sending me a new cartridge "as a courtesy." Sound fishy?

Mp 460 tryin to insert ink for the 1st time

Your post is in the wrong place. I almost got you the wrong directions. LOL

Issue: How do I install the ink cartridge(s)?
Solution: Installing / removing ink cartridges MP160 / MP180 / MP460

Installing / Removing Ink Cartridges To print normally, install or remove ink cartridges in an orderly procedure. Installing ink cartridges:
  1. After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the scanning unit (printer cover). The ink cartridge holder moves to the replacement position.

Note: After confirming that the scanning unit support is fixed into position, release your hands.

  2. Take out a new cartridge from its casing and gently remove the orange protective tape in the direction of the arrow.

Note: - Do not attempt to reattach the protective tape once you have removed it.
    - Do not touch the gold electrical contacts or the print head nozzles after removing the protective tape.

  3. Insert the ink cartridge into the ink cartridge holder.- Black: the left slot- Color: the right slot*

*One black cartridge and one color cartridge must be installed in the machine in order for the printer to operate. It does not matter if the capacities (Standard or High) do not match.

  4. Push up on the front of the cartridge until it locks into place. (A click sound will be heard when the cartridge is locked in place.)

Canon MPC400 Error Wrong Cartridge

I'm not familiar with your particular model... but have you made sure the electrical contacts on both the printer and cartridge are clean (assuming there are such)? Sometimes these contacts get dirty or covered with ink. Try using a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol or electrical contact cleaner (Chemtronics Tun-0-Wash or similiar). This may not be your problem, but it is worth a shot.

Printer cartridge

Well, Since the cartrigde has been working it could be just a matter of contact. Try removing the cartridge, and clean the contact surface on the cartridge with a alcoholic based cleaning liquid on a soft cloth. Tis might help solve the problem.
