Actually this notebook is not officially designed to work on Windows XP, however there are some unofficial drivers available for windows XP, you may try downloading the sound drivers from:
http://sites.google.com/site/sriksang/software/drivers
I'd recommend to install all the drivers from this page.
In case the drivers on this site do not work, let me know I shall provide you other links to the drivers.
Please rate this solution.
This is a problem with windows and not the driver so please make others aware.Your vista and some early dual cores have HD sound which xp does not load unless it was pre installed on a HD pc/laptop.To sort it out,Click start, control panel, device manager, system devices, where you see "microsoft uaa bus driver for hd audio" uninstall this driver and restart the pc.Make sure you know who your sound card manufacturer is and just go to their website or join driverguide.com free as they have a world of knowledge as far as drivers go.If you cant identify your pc driver for sound then download sisandra which is a free identification software that tells you everything on and about your pc and just find the sound card details etc.
Install the XP Drivers and if that doesn't work then you might need to also downgrade your sound card. Some sound cards only work for vista/win7

It is not always advisable to downgrade from Vista to XP, especially on a laptop. The reason being that most of the installed components on the laptop, are specifically chosen for their compatibility with Vista.
However, you can try the following driver, which is more or less a universal basic driver that should work with your machine.

Should that not work, you will have to find the make and model of your sound card and do a Google search for the drivers..
Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.
P.S. - If you find that the solution/answerI provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa!rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.
