When you reset the modem and the linksys, they would be using the default wireless name linksys. by default, the modem would be using a 192.168.0.1 default gateway and the router a 192.168.1.1. first access the routers setup page by typing 192.168.1.1. u need to be connect to the router using an ethernet cable to do that. then once in the routers setup page. go to the wireless tab and change the ssid to any name. connect the router to the modem and disconnect the pc from the router. try connecting to the wireless network using the new ssid or wireless network name.

Connected wireless to router, excellent signal, but unable to connect to internet.

connected to wireless router with excellent signal may not means you are connected to internet. make sure your modem provided by internet service provider has signal! connect your computer to modem directly bypassing router. If you are online that means your internet is functional. Then connect modem to your Linksys router and use your wireless to log on to internet.
Your router wireless signal active and excellent means you are connected to router not necessarily the internet. The modem supplied by your internet service provider with active internet should be connected to you router on WAN port!
good luck!!

Hi Support team, I use Modem Motorola SB100 with Linksys WAP54G, and DLink Wireless G DWA USB Adapter to connect to Linksys WAP from my PCDesktop. Connection from the PC to Linksys is ok but can't...

peter_picasa:

You cannot use a Wireless Access Point (WAP) to connect directly to your IPS's modem. A WAP does not provide the ability to share a single IP address on the internet like a router does.

Either return the WAP for a refund and buy a wireless router or buy an Ethernet wired-only router and plug the WAP into the LAN side of that router. You would then plug the WAN side of the Ethernet wired router into your modem.

Thanks for using FixYa.

*choose a protocol on your linksys router on internect conenction type:

check isp protocol :
dhcp: needs serail number of mac address
it picks up automatic

Can connect to internet directly through modem. When connected through Linksys WRT54GS router, all lights are ok on both modem and Linksys--including internet. (Have had this router for 2 years...no...

As last resort you might want to use a JTAG cable and debricking programming software. If your router is brikced or you want to change the firmware this cable can do it. The cable will connect to your parallel port and your wireless router so you can repair your router. They are about $5.95.

Linksys WRT54G wireless router not compatible with Aztech modem?

Darvin, gotta love your ISP. Never fear......

if it isn't too much of a problem (knowing you have wireless setup done already), then do a factory reset on your router ** remember to copy the WEP Key if you have, or recall the PASS PHRASE so you won't have to reset all wireless devices ** Reset is located on back, you need a ball point pen to reach the reset switch.

Reset process: unplug, take ballpoint pen & insert into reset switch & plug unit back in. Sometimes tricky, but you should notice green light goes to yellow/orange upon resetting.

RESET or NOT - you want the Linksys set for ::

Connection Type - AUTOMATIC (for automatic discovery)
Router IP Address - 192.168.2.1

DCHP - ON, Addresses - 192.168.2.100 and allow 5-50 users
(for security, assign the number of DESKTOP + WIRELESS expected users +1, this way you don't get overrun without knowlege)

Take the cable from Aztech ETHERNET OUT to WAN on Linksys. (usually BLUE) (??) not 100% sure as I have the little silver pocket edition of the same Router. - power cycle (turn both DSL modem & Linksys off for 20 seconds. turn on DSL Modem, wait till it's about as ready as possible, turn on Linksys, should only take 20-30 seconds to power up & recognize.

VERIFY SETTINGS: access router - 192.168.2.1, goto STATUS. you should see IP Addressing, SubNet, DNS1 & DNS2 settings. If you do not, then you have no internet connection.

ALTERNATIVE,

Setup Linksys Router with COnnection Type: PPoE, you will need your ISP assigned ID & Password. Follow all other instructions properly.
