My iPod touch which is a 8GB , will not turn on for me. All it does is, when i push the on/off button to turn it on, a whote screen comes up and it will not let me do anything it is just completly white. Also, when i turn it off there is still a vaint light there but it is grayish. I can not do anything on it.

Press the "Sleep/Wake" button and the "Volume Down" button simultaneously and hold them until the screen gets dark, and then wait a few more seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen, followed by the home screen.

Perform a straightforward reset procedure on your iPod Touch if you are experiencing issues like freezing, unresponsive apps, delays or other other problems. first turn it off
plug in your ipod into your computer with itunes on
hold down the home button only ...
itunes willl make you restore
let it restore your ipod and presto your ipod has be reset ....

put back on your apps and music

Plug the iPod touch into the computer with the USB Dock connector. Once it is connected to the computer turn off the iPod touch by holding the power button down on the top of the device until you see the "Slide to Power Off" on the screen. Power Off the Device. Once the device is off (and still plugged in) hold down the home button and keep holding it while pressing the power button to turn on the device. Continue holding the home button until you see the screen on the iPod Touch Say "Connect to iTunes" at which point you should launch iTunes on your PC/Mac if it has not already loaded.

You may need to reset. Important: Only reset your iPhone or iPod touch if it is no longer responding. To reset, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Warning, this deletes your songs and videos but will make the ipod work again Make sure your Ipod touch is connected to the computer with the usb cable when doing this. Press the HOME button and the SLEEP/WAKE button at the same time and hold them down. The power off screen may come on but disregard it When the apple logo pops up on the screen release just the SLEEP/WAKE button and continue to hold the HOME button.After several seconds the connect to itunes image will come up. You can release the button and continue Now start itunes. Your device should be recognized as in restore mode and you now just have to click restore. It may take a few minutes but your ipod should be back to factory condition and fully functional. GOOD LUCK

You need to put in DFU MODE, and restore your ipod touch.
Easy:
Press The Home Button + power button for 10 seconds. after 10 seconds, press only the Homme button.
And now, connect your ipod touch on itunes and press RESTORE.

try holding the hold button and home button for 50 seconds
or

• Connect your IPOD Touch to iTunes
• Press or Hold the power and home keys 10 seconds. 
  
• Screen goes black, now release the power button
• Make sure you do not release the Home key until your iTunes says "We have detected an itouch in recovery mode."
• After this its simple all you got to do is a simple restore using your iTunes

Try this: Press and hold the wake/sleep button and the home button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple logo should appear on the screen. Release the buttons and it should work like normal. Hope this helps.
