It depends on if you have the full software installed. The MP160 documentation indicates it came wth ScanSoft OmniPage SE. Open MP Navigator and choose this program, you can output the scan as a text file. If you did a custom install, you may or may not have installed the program. If you omitted the program, do a new custom install.
OmniPage is an OCR program and will output to a number of formats (you will choose File, Save as) after scanning. Word can import RTF and most other choices as well as .doc files.

If you don't have the software disc, the software can be obtained from this URL:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=13368

Alternatively, there is a free OCR program (simpleOCR.com) that will do the same thing. However it doesn't handle text in columns (newspaper or magazines) very well.

I hope this helps.

I want to scan a document from my HP F 4280 to my computer so I can work on a project. How do I scan and save?

Use the HP Solution Center Software provided with your HP Printer.

You can also download the software from www.hp.com

The software will give you instructions on how to save the images.

It is all about finding the folders, usually with filename scan0000, scan0001, and so on.

You can modify the naming of scanned docs, pics.

God Bless You!

How do I copy and enlarge a 4" x 6" photo to 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper?

You need a scanner and an imaging software (i.e. photoshop).
- Scan the original photo
- increase the resolution on the software to at least 300dpi
- increase/modify the size of the image to 8.5 x 11
- save new image under a different name

Different software have different detailed instructions, but the general objective is as described above.
Hope it helps

Canon dr 6080 scanner is getting papers but i dont know where the scanned images are being saved and whether being saved or not?

What scanning software are you using? Once you initiate scan command, the software will ask for location (and format) where you want to save the files. After scanning, try & use 'Save as' command, by default it will go to where it is already saved. Alternatively, search for the file name under Windows.

Scanner keeps scanning 81/2 x 11 paper and saving as 81/2 x 14

The scanner driver is probably set to save as 8.5" x 14" as the default. Open the Lexmark scanner utility or driver properties and look for the default scan settings. (These will include file type, resolution, and scanned image dimensions, among other settings.)

If you see that the current default setting is 8.5" x 14" (or "legal") you can change it to 8.5" x 11" (or Letter), or if there is an option for automatically detecting size based on the original's size, you can do that as well. Click OK or Apply to save your changes.

I don't know how to scan a document, save it to my computer, work on it and save it again for future use. How do I do that?

You have to install some kind of OCR (optical character recognition) software.
Usualy you will have CD with one of those in the box of your printer, but if you
do not have it, then go to this webpage and download ptogram for OCR.

Basically, OCR program will scan your document, convert it to electronic document
(word, text...) which you can then edit, modify, save and print.

Here is the link to FREE OCR software:

Good luck,

I HAVE SOFTWARE INSTALLED FOR MY LEXMARK X4210 BUT CAN FIND NO SETUP SHEET TO ENABLE ME TO COPY PAPER DOCUMENTS AND PRINT THEM. COULD YOU EMAIL ME ONE PLEASE?

Thanks for choosing fixya.com

There is usually a button on the top of the scanner/printer that will say "Copy" This will scan the document then print it out. You can also open the software that came with the printer that you have installed and it should have a "scan" option. This will allow you to first scan the document, modify it or save to your computer, then re-print it.

You may also be able to download a pdf version of the manual from www.lesmark.com

Hope this helps out.
