I know from reading the user manual that it is meant to play WMA
files but you may have to use the coby media manager to convert the files to mp3 or possibly to wma ( that the player can read )
I have similar problems with mp3 files that do not play in my car mp3 player .
When your MP3 Player is connected to a computer, you may transfer music files to your MP3 player using your operating system's basic file management commands (i.e., copy-and-paste or drag-and-drop).Connect the Coby MP3 player to your computer through its USB adapter.
Select "Open folder to view files" from the new device dialog box that pops up. If the new device dialog does not appear upon the hardware's connection, click "Start," click "My Computer" and right-click the Coby MP3 player's device icon in Windows Explorer .Click "Start," click "My Music" and open the folder containing the music you wish to transfer onto the Coby MP3 player.
Drag and drop the music files or folders into the Coby MP3 player's open directory. Alternatively, you can highlight the music files or folders and click the "Copy the selected" link from the Files and Folders Tasks menu in the left column. Select the "Removable Disk" drive from the list of destinations.
You cannot just copy a DVD movie to a MP3 player to play the movie on the MP3 player. The movie need to be converted to a file format that the MP3 player can play. if its a small mp3 player you cant put movies but if it is a mp3 player with a usb that allows movies you just transfer it to the usb file by copy nad pasting
1. Use Windows Media Player to put songs on your Coby MP3 player. Download songs in MP3, WMA, or OGG format from a legal downloading website. If the file is not one of the previously mentioned files, you must download a converter to convert the file to one of the correct files that can be played on Windows Media Player. Rip a song from a CD by inserting the CD and then click on the option to "Rip" the song to your library. Some Coby MP3 players do not need Windows Media Player to add songs, so be sure to check your user manual to see if there is an even simpler method. 2. Connect your Coby MP3 player to your computer using the USB connector that came with your MP3 player. The player will show up under the "Devices" option on your Window Media Player application. 3. Click on the "Library" option to view all of the songs stored on your Windows Media Player library. You can drag the song to the MP3 player in the "Devices" section, or you can right-click on the song and choose the option to transfer the song. In the pop-up box choose your MP3 from the drop-down menu and then click on the "Transfer" button. 4. Right-click on the MP3 player in Windows Media Player and choose the "Eject" option. Disconnect your MP3 player from your computer and turn it on. The song will now be available on your MP3 player. Press the bottom button to play or pause the song. 5. Add videos and pictures to your Coby MP3 player if it supports those files. The process is similar to transferring audio files. Plug your MP3 player into your computer. Open the photo file on your computer and drag pictures into the player. You can create folders to organize the pictures.
well when i used coby media manager it had a video converter in the video option on the side.i had to register my coby before the software use with its serial # on a sticker located on the back of the device! then i simply used the sycronize feature in the video option on the coby with a video preferbly avi files or others and right click syncronize and it should convert it and then transfer!
first, use the conversation software to convert your movie file into an MTV format. After the conversion, transfer the file in thte MOVIE directory in the mp3 player..done.

When you go into "My Computer" and double-click on the icon of the Coby, it should display several folders.
Copy movie files to the “MOVIE.DIR” folder
Copy photo files to the “PHOTO.DIR” folder
Make sure the files you are transferring are the ones suggested by your user's manual.
