I HAVE A LENOVO THINKPAD X61 .WHEN POWERING THE LAPTOP I GET A PADLOCK ON THE UPPER LEFT HAND OF MY MONITOR..HOW CAN I UNLOCK IT?..

1. • 1 Locate the "Fn" key in the lower left corner of your Thinkpad keyboard.
     
   • 2 Locate the "F2" key in the upper left area of the keyboard.
     
   • 3 Press and hold the "Fn" key, then press the "F2" key to toggle the "Lock" feature. Release both keys.

If the small plastic hinges are still attached to the keyboard, then place the key over these hinges, align it with the others keys and press down on the key until it click onto these hinges.

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

when you first power on the laptop you need to press f1, del or f2 to enter the bios

confirm that the Power adapter is ok if the A/C indicator comes ON on the LCD on the laptop. If the A/c indicator is off replace the the power pack. Else the board may be bad, replace the board.
