Husqvarna chain saw oiler problem

I have a new 450 and a new 435 Husqvarna chain saw, both of them don't put out enough oil to luburcate the chain. They both have fixed oilers. I have a friend that is having the same issue with his new 435. Is this a common issue with these saws? I called my dealer and he said that the pump is under warranty, so I plan to take them to him. But after reading several reviews on these saws, I expect to keep having the problem. Is there any way to adjust these fixed oilers?

    Your oil is 2 thick, drain all oil &replace w/cheap transmission fluid. Put cardboard box against wall, start saw, point chain@ box and run at hi-speed. If no oil on box, clean out all passages & bar

I fear you are correct about the oiler problem. I see a lot of oiler problems on these saws. Sooner or later Husky will have to address it. Ask the dealer about modifying your oiler; the 350 has an adjustable and might fit 1 or both of these saws. I think Husky needs to admit the nonadjustable is a mistake, and come up with a fix.

If you want to do some research start with the IPLs here:
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – useful when downloading IPLs and Manuals
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week
Please post back (below) with what happens at the dealer. Take your buddy and his saw with you! Good Luck. HTH

I have a husqvarna 345 with an 18 inch bar and i keep burning the tip up. the oiler is working but its not putting enough oil to the bar. iv checked and found that the oiler is not adjustable and i cant...

At the end of the bar there's a small hole. Every time you fill the oil you should also put some oil into that hole and turn the chain so it spreads into the bearing. The chain oil is not intended to be enough for that bearing. I hope that will solve your problem.

How do you a just the chain oiler?

There is a Oiler set screw on the bottom of your saw next to the oil container that has three settings. One way to check to see if it is oiling enough is to put a piece of cardboard or other material in front of the bar while it is running. Keep steady pressure on the trigger and hold the chain about 4-5 inches away from the piece of material. If you see a vertical line, the bar is getting enough oil.

Can't seem to get my oiler to work properly. oil emerges when i run the saw with the bar removed, but chain is dry and hot when run put together.

Some saw manufactures design their oilers to only work with their bars. Are you running the mfg suggested or stock bar? Chain? Stihl Chain is designed to use 30% less oil because of oil groves cut into each drive link directed to the rivets. So if your running an aftermarket bar/chain, the oiling ports may not line up. Especially if it oils with no bar & chain

Husqvarna 345 bar oiler

Remove the bar and chain. Start the engine and observe the oil delivery port in the side of the engine case. At a fairly fast speed, the oil should ooze out of the port. If little or nothing, check the pump, lines, and in-tank filter. If ok, clean the bar drive-end holes of sawdust and dirt, especially the small passages that go from the large holes out to the chain groove. Clean the entire groove and the outer end sprocket. Reassemble and test the oiling by running the bar tip at speed in front of a piece of cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil after several moments. Hope this helps!

New chain installed, cut for 1/2 hour, chain now sags well below

Place a piece of white paper on the ground
Start your saw and point the tip of the bar at the paper, this will allow you to see if it is oiling or not
I am assuming that we are dealing with a newer saw and not an old manual oiler
Blowing air back through the oil ports in to the oil tank ( with the cap removed and oil tank drained) should help clean out whatever is plugging it.
Once cleared run a bit of diesel through the oil tank, drain it and refill with clean fresh oil
I never use old oil in my saws for just this reason

Hope this helps

455 chain saw does not seam to be oiling the chain enough,checked an cleaned oiler chain an bar ,i cant find my book but i know it can be adjusted but dont know how

Caution it is probably only a 3 position oiler, forcing it beyond either stop may cause failure. The 2009 om (may not be your saw) adjustment is on page 33 of the Operator's Manual (below).
Oil System Plugged.
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out. Pay attention to the screen or filter on the free end (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Work your way through the linkage cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is a left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly.
If it does not oil on completion of 1 it is most likely a bad oiler or worm gear. Please see the IPL to aid in oiler component identification.

Chain oiler

Depends on the vintage, turn the saw upside down and you can see a screw to turn, 3 settings, right under the clutch and shaft. use a screw driver if it is adjustable. I like to keep mine set on high, oil is cheaper that new chains and bars. Use a bar oil, not old used motor oil.
