I installed my unit on the air input side, so it's located before the heppa filter on the cold air return side of the furnace. I let this puppy run all night, by keeping the fan engaged all evening. My humidistat was installed in the cold air return in about the same location as the humidifier/furnace. I noted the humidity switch engaged at about 28% upon installation and after running for about 5 hours was creeping towards cut off at about 38%.
However an electronic humidity measuring device on the machine never registered about 26% even though the unit ran all night. I need to get my humidity up to about 40% in the winter -- so if I ran this thing all night and never got more than 26% -- can someone tell me what is going on here?
Water is running through the unit, to the humidifier, through the heppa filter into the furnace before ejecting into the hot air vents. Is my furnace drying the air as quickly as it's pulled into the furnace? Honey well directions said it could be installed on the hot or cold air side. I chose the cold air side due to ease of location to install. Was that a mistake? Any other ideas?

I have a similar problem. Same installation; I moved the humidistat up 6 in above duct work and humidifier. I feel the humid air when I open the humidifier but its still dry in the house. Even with the humidistat turned up to 60%. I too have the water line installed on the cold water side. Does that really make the difference?
I have the same problem. Installed the humidifier in the cold air side of the funace according to the instructions. Is there a fix?
