Installing Windows XP alongside Vista

Our office computers use XP with Netware software for the server. We recently got a new PC which came with Vista. But there's no Netware Client software for Vista.
I don't particularly want to lose the Vista software and understand you can run XP on a separate partition. However, when I try to install XP (which seems to be product specific, ie Hyunju), it wants to wipe the hard drive on the new computer.

    Thanks, goldflack.

However, we don't have the vista software - new PCs come with the OS installed and no disks. So, if I wipe the HD to install XP, Vista is gone.

Also, the XP software I have is product-specific and may not want to install on our new PC.

Hi, I m really sorry to say that but you have a Server Product and its built to run Windows Server Series on it (or Linux / Novell Netware).
This is the list of compatible Server list
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for 64-bit Extended Systems Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Essential Business Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Foundation Edition Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Small Business Microsoft Windows Server 2008 W32 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64 Novell NetWare 6.5 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (AMD64/EM64T) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (x86) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86-64) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (x86) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (AMD64/EM64T) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (x86)
Here is the link for Drivers
Try to use the Driver for Windows 2003.
It has a Matrox VGA as I know. If you know which Matrox series you have, then Browse here for the Drives: Matrox Graphics Support. Make sure that you choose the Exact Driver software which suites the System.
Note: Not every product has the Driver Software for Windows XP.

Trying to load office 2003, keep getting message, requires elevation

This feature can be seen in XP as well as Vista computers. if such error occurs in xp try making a new user account with administrator rights and then try to install office 2003. also check the services.msc from run window and be sure that the windows installer is started.
In case of vista try installing from administrator account and if this is not working create new user account with administrator rights. even if this gives the problem then User Account control (UAC) should be turned off. this will probably solve ur problem.

Netware Authentication Failure

There is a Windows XP service that often causes this problem, called "Routing and Remote Access". (C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs )

Try to disable this service and see if your problem disappears.

  1. Right-click "My computer"
  2. choose "Manage"
  3. look for "Services" (you might have to expand "Services and Applications")
  4. scroll down to "Routing and Remote Access"
  5. left-click "Routing and Remote Access"
  6. click "Properties"
  7. click (in the General tab) "Startup type" and select "Disabled".
  8. If the service is running, select "Stop".
  9. Try to log in again or (better) restart the machine and you should be good to go.

If you have any more questions or this did not solve your problem, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
