Water is leaking onto top shelf of fridge. It is a top freezer.

Most modern fridges have an automatic defrost that works by draining into a sort of funnel above the back of the top shelf.
The funnel is connected through the back of the fridge to a rubber drain tube that goes down the outside of the back to a heated evaporation tray under the fridge,
The hose and/or funnel can get clogged with disgusting yucky stuff, and the water spills over the top of the funnel onto the top shelf.
The fix is to clean all the bits. It's usually no big deal to take apart.
I have resorted to blowing through the tube from the bottom end and then cleaning up the mess, and brushing my teeth. Quite revolting but, that's the price I paid to become an expert.

You most likely have a clogged defrost drain tube in the freezer, this diverts water through the damper into the fridge section in units with the freezer on top... Remove the back wall of the freezer and look beneath the tubing and you will see an ice pad... Use a turkey baster and warm water to reveal the drain hole, then force warm water down it until it is clear... Have some towels handy. Whirlpool Refrigerator Drain Strap 819043

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back/bottom of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curtain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking into the freezer and down the vent into the fridge instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you have any other question. the drain in the freezer is clog make sure the drain from the freezer is clean all the way to the pan next to the compressor . you need to open the back wall of your freezer for that ( the inside wall) clean with buster (water pump)the drain is in the bottom middle of the freeze.

Does water in door dispenser taste bad? If not, Try arm and hammer fridge deoderizer. It will help to absorb fridge odors which may be clinging to water molecules in ice maker tray. Ice maker tray is open to freezer area.Water is very medium to infiltrate with odors. Try this first

the defroster isn't close enough to the drain to be effective. remove the back wall of the inside of the freezer, remove the excess ice. clear out the ice from the drain using hot water and a turkey baster. there is a kit from whirlpool that uses a piece of metal and a screw around the defrost rod, but I found out that a piece of 14 gauge solid core wire with the insulation stripped off works great too. stick the stripped wire into the drain, 2 to 3 inches, and wrap the rest around the defrost rod.

Some models need an after market drain heat strip added.

check your gasket on the refridge door see if it has any rips or you have a blocked drain in freezer

IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE A CLOGGED DRAIN . CHECK YOUR CONDECER COILS BEHIND KICK PLATE .. AFTER THAT YOU CAN UNPLUG FRIDGE FOR 24 HRS WITH DOORS OPEN AND SOULD DEFROST ENOUGH TO CLEAR DRAIN . IF NOT . DEPENDING ON MODEL YOU SOULD BE ABLE TO GET THROUGH DRAIN THROUGH MOST FREEZERS .
