I have a Black & Decker digital steamer Model HS1300. The steamer works great but beeps 5 times every couple minutes when we use it...this usually indicates a low water level BUT the water level is still well above the minimum and even when we add water it does not stop beeping every couple minutes. With 35 minutes to cook rice...the beeping every 2 minutes is driving me crazy! How do I make it stop?

The gray plastic covering over the heating element (in the base of the steamer) is starting to flake off. Is the steamer still safe to use? I have looked for a new steamer, but this one is much sturdier...

I hate to say it but it is time to replace it and Cuisinart mixer a very good steamer with glass stainless steel insert and removable water tank

Since a steamer is a steamer, try the following suggestions:

White rice: 1 cup to 2 cups water for 45-50 minutes.
Brown rice: 1 cup to 1.5 cups water for 45-50 minutes.

I have a black and decker 100 watt power inverter. When the led turns red you are ethier overloading it or it overheated. to fix it unplug it and let it sit for 5 minutes. Plug it in. Plug in an item rated for 100 watts or less. Or try to charge somthing on the usb port.

I have the exact same problem - still no solution - this is the only posting I could find ... anywhere! If I figure out something, I will let you know. I love the steamer, but the beeping is also driving me nuts!

It's fixable!
Unscrew the bottom (you may not be able to remove the last screw, but you can still lift the panel enough)
Make sure the steamer is unplugged and identify a White circular piece of plastic (diam = 3cm) with a hole in the middle and two black wires running back to the main control area.
Snip the wires with a pair of scissors.

And you are FREE FROM THAT INCESSANT BEEPING!
