I was in the middle of a print and it just suddenly stopped and "Error
Code 6502" appeared on the screen. The orange light flashes 19 times. The cartridges are genuine ink cartridges. Have tried the: Turn off, reset carriage to right, turn on holding button & press reset (& tried OK button) twice, release power and press reset 4 times. This does not work! Have tried with the top left open when pressing the buttons and with it shut. Nothing changes. Please help me - I'm sick of buying printers and throwing them within 6 months to 12 months. Thanks

Canon help desk told to unplug the printer for at least 15 minutes. The electronics will reset. If the error persists after turning the printer back on you're screwed and have to send it to Canon, because some electronic component is broken.

canon printer mp600 has error message 6502,have tried,holding down reset button, then off/on button at the same time, then pressing reset button twice, while still holding down on/off button down, then let both buttons go.
then press reset button four times. when printer stops movement turn off printer. the operation don't work.

I have a canon mp 510 printer/scanner/copier and it come up with a error 6502 jsut after i had replaced the ink cartridge. I came to this site to look for a soloution. I turned the printer off and left it off for a few minutes turned it back on and it is now working. My problem was eaisly fixed, hope the rest of you have the same outcome

I bought a Canon Pixma MP 510 printer in april 2007 in Holland.
Now I have error 6502 as described by several others. I tried the procedure to unplug the printer for at least 15 minutes but it did not work.
Now I have to send it to Canon but the 1 year guarantee lasted till april 2008 only. Having noticed that several users seem to have the same problem, I would expect free service from Canon. This is disappointing as the inkcassettes are expensive with a very moderate life. My canon photocopier and digital camera, however are ok. Regards [email protected]
