Wbr 1310 does not seem to connect to laptop. erthnet cable is connected from modem to wan port on router and another erthnet cable from port 1 on router to laptop erthnet connection. no...

connect your computer to the router and open internet explorer and in the address bar type, 192.168.0.1 and push enter. it might be 192.168.1.1, don't remember. login and setup your internet connection. if you have cable internet set it to DHCP. if you have DSL you will have to get the settings off the providers web site. you can also try resetting the router. with the power on, press the tiny reset button on the back of the router for about ten seconds. you will see the lights go out and come back on. once the router reboots try it again. Good luck.

Went to shut down comp. and screen said, and still is. broadcom undi pxe-2.1 v11.4.1 copyright [c] 2000-2008 broadcom corporation copyright [c] 1997-2000 intel corporation all rights reserved. ...

A "media test failure, check cable" means your hard disk failed. The bios can not locate the boot sector of the hard disk to begin loading the operating system.
"Operating system not found" means windows can't load because the Bios can not find the operating system (because the hard disk failed).

This is pretty much an unrecoverable error in terms of fast fixes. You can take the hard disk to a data recovery service if you need to retrieve important data or files.

After replacing Cable Modem, D-Link DI-524 Wireless will not work

Did you call Comcast and give them the new MAC address of the Motorola SB5101 SURFboard cable modem? I'm surpised it works at all without doing this first. This is the hardware address of your modem so the world can see you, no one in the world has the same MAC address, they are all different. It's on a sticker on the modem.
