My dryer will not stop when I open the door, only when I turn the selector to stop.I can see the little tab thingy in the door seem to move freely back and forth. Is there a way to check the door switch?

If you take a plastic spoon and press on the "Thingy" it should click when you press it and again when you release it

If it does not do that, the micro switch is goosed and needs replacing

How do you dry clothes in this machine please

A fairly common problem! The official instructions are

Before using your dryer, wipe the dryer drum with a damp cloth to
remove dust from storing and shipping.
1. Load clothes loosely into the dryer and close the door. Do not
pack the dryer. Allow space for clothes to tumble freely.
2. Turn the Cycle Control knob to the recommended cycle for the type of load being dried. Use the Energy Preferred Automatic Setting (,) to dry most heavyweight and medium weight loads. See "Drying, Cycle, and Temperature Tips."
3. Select a temperature setting on models with a Temp/Fabric selector. The cycle descriptions include temperature setting suggestions.
4. Push the START button.

Stopping and Restarting
You can stop your dryer any time during a cycle.
To stop your dryer
Open the dryer door or turn the Cycle Control knob to OFE
NOTE: The Cycle Control knob should point to an Off area when
the dryer is not in use.
To restart your dryer
1. Close the door.
2. Select a new cycle and temperature (if desired).
3. Press START

Ive just installed a new door kit onto my fisher and paykel de45f56a dryer. It has never had a door as it was cracked when purchased so the dryer has never been started. I have now fitted the door however...

yes, double check the switch first. it sounds like the motor is not even moving, since the dryer was never used before sometimes there is a "tab" or locking mechanism to keep the tumbler form moving during shipping.

Won't turn on

It's calle a door switch. You should see two screw by the lint filter. Remove them and use a putty knife under the top at the front to release two clips and the top will swing up. You may be able to access the switsh from there. Other wise there are two screw into the front from the inside and the bottomof the front panel should be held on by tabs you can lift it off of.

Error code on blue screen: 438:BOARD_pwr.c

hi,

change ink...

There is a door on the front of the printer on the right corner. There is a little tab thingy on the side of the printer that you use to pull the door open. This you can do from the front, you don't need to move the printer around to get access from the side.

Pull the door down and tada, there are the ink cartridges.

Electric clothes dryer will not turn on

Check in the upper corner of the dryer when you open it. There should be a slot where a little tab sticks out. This is the door switch. The tab should stick out about 3/4 of an inch. Is it broken? Dave www.washermd.com

The drum on my dryer stopped turning it was heating and it just stopped turning, I just want to get instuctions on how to take it apart.

If your dryer doesn't tumble, check these:

Belt
Motor
Door switch
Belt Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time.

Click here for a belt installation diagram.

Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

  • Remove the belt.

  • Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

  • Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor.

If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Maytag Electric Dryer Stopped Working

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.

To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning
