You most likely damaged the LCD or dislodged the cables from system board to the LCD. Also check for a small button or "nub" near the base of the screen, is it stuck or broken? this turns off the screen when lid is closed, slamming may have got it stuck.

if you have an external monitor. shut off the laptop, connect the video cable from external monitor and turn on laptop...do you get video?

if yes, your LCD is damaged and needs service. if no, you have done far more damage and need to have the whole thing diagnosed at a service center.

Slam lid on laptop, now it won't boot.

Sounds like you have damaged the hard drive. Just because you can read the files doesn't mean that the hard drive is not damaged. You may have corrupted a particular part of the data when you gave it a jolt. My suggestion would be to find a laptop that is the same and try the hard drive, or buy a new hard drive and see if that fixes it.

Hi, I have a maytag washing machine. When I close the lid it doesn't always start agitating. It seems that slamming the lid will get it to start, maybe it is just repeated openning and closing that...

Hi, I know this model because I have one exactly as yours and I fixed it a couple of time. Your problem seems to be the lid switch assembly. Your wiil find it for less than $40 at partselect.ca or at the place of your choice. Before buying it make sure that the lid is not loose, if it is, just replace the lid hinge balls (2). If the lid is not loose you might have the lid switch checked by the appropriate person for looseness or breakage. That switch is located under the timer. You will also notice a small bulge on the lid facing the switch. It should be intact or it will not activate the switch.

I slambed the lid shut, and somehow disabled the hard disk, can I plug it back in?

You think your hard disk is unplugged due to slamming a lid closed? If thats the case then the answer is yes. Get a screw driver and un screw both screws on the bottom of the laptop with the power cable unplugged and the battery out of the unit. Press and hold the power button down for sixty seconds before reseating the hard drive or connecting any cables to it.

it is very unlikely and kind of unusual that the hard drive would just become unplugged due to slamming a lid down. I hope you have not damaged the drive instead? If thats the case then there is nothing you can do but purchase another one.

Good luck!

Hi I am using my LG 42LH3000 LCD TV as a monitor for my Dell M65 Precision Laptop, which works fine but only as long as i have the lop top open, as soon as i close the lid of the lap top the TV goes blank....

Make sure you set the right action for the laptop closing. Right click on the battery or plug icon on far right of the windows bar the go to power option.

Then make sure that for any power mode the computer won't enter the sleep state when closing the lid.

If this doesn't work, you might have a dell specific software the takes care of the power setting and override the windows default one, try to find it and alter the settings as mentionned above.

good luck

Dell lid was slammed bad sectors and slow processing...

Honestly even if you were to get lucky and be able to get vista back onto the laptop, your going to get even more bad sectors quickly cause the hard drive is going bad.

Get a new hard drive put in there and then get the laptop restored back to factory defaults.

Top loader washing machine - won't work unless I slam down the top door. Any suggestions? Thanks

I think it is in the lid switch. If the lid switch is malfunctioning on a maytag top loader it will not start washing. Probably by slamming the lid you are making the connection you need for the time being. It is located at the back underneath the lid in the middle. Follow the link and you will see and diagram and parts associated with your washer. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=A4910&productCategoryId=0153000&brandId=3048&modelName=MAYTAG-LAUNDRY&diagramPageId=00002&componentDescription=TOP COVER, CONSOLE & LID SWITCH
