I tried the solution, but it didn't work for me still getting pages sent 0 result NG. The only way that I am able to send a fax is to hit hook --> dial # --> wait for fax machine to pick up --> hit start.

Display the fax menu and then select Print Report\List and print the Users Data List. Check the setting of the ECM TX setting. If this is ON turn it OFF. This is the Error Correction Mode setting, probability is the fax you are sending to is not ECM compatible. The MP830 is suppose to automatically send in standard mode if receiving machine is not ECM compatible however I am not sure how well this works. Turn the ECM setting off by displaying the Fax Menu and then select Maintenance\Settings, Device Settings, Fax Settings, TX settings, ECM TX.

Great solution (sorry, I clicked Fixya, the best rating, but I am not a Fixya member). Thanks for your help. Canon should advertise with you!

When I hit hook to send a fax I hear a click but I get no dial tone and the same on receiving a fax MP830

You only hit hook to hear the dial tone or use the machine like a speaker phone. To send a fax you press fax start. If you can't hear a dial tone when you press hook, there is something wrong with the phone line connection, or it's plugged in to the wrong plug on the machine. The phone line goes into the one marked with an L, the other with the pic. of a phone is for an additional telephone.

Daily report/printout

At the end of the each day, press funcktion and then report, select activity report and press "ok"
This is the only way the activaty report can be printed at a spesific time.If you switch the report on in the report settings it will only print when the memory is near full. The other way is to switch TX report to on in report settings, but the you will get a report after every fax that you sent.

Faxes won't complete transmission

those noises you hear are line noises via your phone line, not machine related but they wreak havoc on faxing. first you need to replace the actual line connecting the fax machine to the wall. If this doesn't fix the problem then have your phone lines tested. also make sure your machine is set for digital or analog service, depending on which you have. Good Luck.

Repeated Fax TX report printing

Solution #3 solved it for me. The report kept printing over and over, so I used the menus (roughly) mentioned in Soluton #3 by guest.

My problem was the printer was trying to print the TX Error Report with the image attached. That made the report too big for standard sized paper, so the machine kept telling me to check the paper size, and I'd hit 'OK', and that made the machine try to print the report again, for it continued to think it had not printed a complete report.

Here's what I did...

Go to: Fax Menu
Arrow right ( >) to Maintenance/Settings, hit, 'OK'
Arrow right to (>) to Device Settings, hit 'OK',
Fax Settings, hit 'OK',
Arrow down ( v ) to TX Settings, hit 'OK',
Arrow down ( v ) to TX Report, OK
Select 'Print error only', hit 'OK',
Attach TX image, Select 'NO', hit 'OK"

With the instruction to not attach the TX image, it will print out the error report without the TX image, the report will fit on the paper, and it will clear this problem.

Good luck!
