I can't get my printer cartridge to move to the

The printer says "error" and I need to replace my black cartridge. I can't get my kodak printer cartridge to move to the center of the printer so I can remove it. It says to open the lid and it will automatically slide to the center, but nothing happens. I've unplugged it, went through the help buttons, nothing will make it move.

SOURCE: need to replace ink cartridges and the printhead

I have a kodak esp 5200 and just replaced the color cartridge. All you have to do is go to your little panel and go to maintenance. Scroll down to change ink cartridges and it will tell you to open the cover and replace the cartridge. I didn't know how either and just tried a few things. Hope this helps.

Advent resetting ink levels

Hi There
Your all-in-one printer is designed to stop printing before quality is compromised. Make sure you always use KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to the KODAK Store.
To resolve the error, replace the black ink cartridge with a new cartridge:
  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 all-in-one printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see Printhead and ink cartridges do not move to center with access door open.
  3. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the black ink cartridge and lift it out of the printhead.
  4. Remove the new black ink cartridge from its bag.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the black ink cartridge.

CAUTION: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent the printhead from drying out.
  6. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead.
  7. Press down on the tab until you hear a click.
  8. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
If the error continues, upgrade the firmware for your printer:
  1. Press the Cancel button on your printer to clear the error message. (If the error does not clear, contact us.)
  2. Upgrade the firmware for your printer:
    1. Locate and select the firmware download for your printer.
    2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.
  3. If the error continues, contact us.

Well, I don't think FixYa sent you the new replacement, but it was supposed to be sent by Kodak I guess. Anyway, here's the instructions on how to remove/install or in other words, how to replace the printhead.
  1. Verify that the printer is turned on and there are no error conditions.
  2. Open the printer access door and allow the printhead carriage to move to the center position.
  3. Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
  4. Disconnect the printhead by pressing the button in the upper-left corner of the carriage, then remove the printhead.nonontech_386.jpg
  5. Insert the printhead into the carriage.
  6. Place your thumb over the target label and push in firmly with your right thumb until you hear a loud snap.
  7. Check that the latch captures the printhead.nonontech_387.jpg
  8. Insert the color ink cartridge into the printhead.
  9. Press down on the color ink cartridge until you hear it click into position.
  10. Repeat Steps 8-9 for the black ink cartridge.
  11. Close the printhead access door.
*Follow upto step 5 to remove the printhead, I just included the remaining steps for your information.
Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.

How do I replace the ink cartridge when it will not center when I lift the lid

Hi,

Since you are not able to find the carriage ( which holds the cartridges ) in center position, Try to move the carriage manually to center. Make sure the printer is On or you can turn it off and move it to center and replace the cartridges.

Also, follow the steps given below as well.

  1. Remove the color ink cartridge.
    • Open the printer access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.
    • Wait until the printhead is idle and silent, then pinch the latch on the color ink cartridge with your thumb and forefinger and lift it out of the printhead.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you are using KODAK Ink Cartridges. Your KODAK All-in-One Printer is designed to work with KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of either non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to Kodak's Web site, then to KODAK Store.

  2. Check the two electrical contacts on the ink cartridge for small marks, which should appear if the cartridge was installed correctly.

If the electrical contacts do not have small marks:

    • Reinstall the ink cartridge, making sure you press down on it until it clicks into position.

    • Remove the color ink cartridge, then check the two electrical contacts on the ink cartridge again for small marks. Repeat if necessary.
    • Reinstall the ink cartridge.

  3. Close the printer access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.
If the error condition continues, power cycle the printer:
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait five seconds.
  4. Connect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer.
If the error is resolved, upgrade the firmware for your printer:
  1. Locate and select the firmware download for your printer.
  2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.
If the error continues, try contacting the Kodak Tech support by clicking on contact us.
