This is the minimum spec for Windows 7:

  • Processor: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • Memory: 1 GB of system memory
  • Hard drive: 16 GB of available disk space
  • Video card: Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128MB memory (in order to enable Aero theme)
  • Drive: DVD-R/W drive
  • Internet connection (to download the Beta and get updates)
Its not the motherboard, its the processor speed, RAM size, and hard drive space, and video card capability that counts.Your processor speed well meets this criteria and also your RAM size is within spec for Windows 7, and im sure you will have in excess of 16GiG hard drive space. So its all down to your video card. You may need to install DirectX 9.Hope this helps :)

This motherboard supports a AMD Athlon 64 / Sempron processor (Socket 754). Since this is an older unit you will have to search on Ebay for a processor.
As for the RAM you will need DDR 400, this can easily be purchased at www.newegg.com There is a maximum of 2 gb on your motherboard.

Unfortunately you cannot upgrade the processor with a new one, the socket 754 is obsolete, retired 4 years ago. You might find some second hand Athlons that will fit it (fastest is 3700+) on auction sites.

AGP installation problems
If you do see the BIOS post but the screen turns black when your OS is loading, then the AGP-card should be OK. HOWEVER, you do need to uninstall your MB-video drivers before installing a new GPU.
