Lost Tablet Funcionality on Gateway M275

My tablet came with Windows XP Professional Tablet Edition factory installed, though I purchaced it refurbished. Recently my wife downloaded an update from Microsoft which crashed the system and it would not load Windows even in safe mode. I uninstalled several of the most recent windows updates, but that did not work. Eventually, I decided to reinstall the software, but mistakenly used the wrong XP cd.

I reinstalled again using the system restore cd/dvd provided by Gateway. Windows XP Professional now loads, but it is not Tablet Edition even though I used the disk provided by the manufacturer and I can't use any of the tablet functions. Unfortunately, I can't get any help from Gateway, MCP or Acer regarding this.

I examined the contents of the cd and found something called WACOMPEN that's apparently an SY file, and in the Device Manager I found Wacom Serial Pen Tablet listed under the Human Interface Devices. However, I don't know how to get Windows to recognize the tablet functions and don't understand why Tablet Edition wasn't installed with the system restore.

In addition to that, my wireless connection doesn't show up in Network Connections so I can't find my wireless network, nor can I go online even when plugging directly into my modem via an ethernet cable.

I apologize for such a long message, but I'm really at the end of my rope here. I'm sure I may have messed things up more when I accidentally installed the non-tablet edition XP first. Still, if you guys can help me I would really appreciate it.

You dont have the correct drivers installed for the pen and button functions.. I need a email address to send them to... Mine is: [email protected] or call me...740-404-6370
I have the same tablet and it took me 3 months to round up all the CORRECT drivers and get everything working.... BTW I could use a copy of the restore disk for mine if you could...

I need operating system mine is lost its harddrive is dead, so i have new one

On the bottom of your tablet/PC you will see a COA sticker stating what version of windows was installed. You can download an image file from various sources on the web/torrents and install using your current license number. The drivers for XP are still available on the gateway website, however if you decide to upgrade to Windows 7 there are some advanced tricks you need to be aware of to install all the drivers, most of which are outlined in previous posts for your m275 tablet here on fixya. :) (I recieved 13 of these from a university science department that upgraded and have successfully re-installed both XP and win7 on all of them.)

Assuming you are running Windows XP Tablet Edition:
Go to Control Panel Select Tablet and Pen Settings Tap the Calibrate Button
Follow the instructions.
There should be a similar Tablet control in the Control Panel for other versions of Windows.

Hi i like to install xp profecianal on my laptop m280e i have on it xp7 tablet ther any probleme to install xp profecianal please responce

XP professional will not work on that unit. The OS will install and work properly but you will lose many of your tablet functions. You have to have the tablet pc edition for all comonents to function. You would not gain anything by going to Pro, and your Windows or Microsoft update will keep your current tablet pc edition updated properly.

Where can i download sofware of gateway

For your tablet to function again, you'll need the WACOM tablet driver which is NOT provided by Gateway, since they do not manufacture the tablet themselves.

You'll need the following drivers from the GATEWAY site to fix your button issue:

9524572.exe - Gateway M275 Button driver, version 5.01.2600.2156

and from the WACOM site you'll need the Tablet PC driver.
-Go to www.Wacom.com
-Select your location and language on the right
-On the next page, choose downloads from the top navigation bar
-In Step 1 scroll down and pick Tablet PC
-In Step 2 choose your operating system
-Follow the download instructions provided on the site from there

If you are unable to install the software it means that you don't have administrator rights. Its due to ntfs permission ,you must install it with login into your account as administrator..just make one more administrator account in safe mode and try whether you are able to do fix the issue or not.
