When machine is running during the spin cycle there is a high pitch noise heard, otherwise running fine! Is it possible the tub is off balance? Any other suggestions?

washer works fine except spin cycle is very loud. Not a high pitch sound...just loud...magnitude is like a car with, versus without a muffler.

we had the same high pitch squeeling on our washer. i knew it wasn't right, and sure enough, a few days later, the rear bearing went out. Called Sears to set up a repair. i had the washer pulled out and the back off to save time on the repair. the repair guy told us 590 to repair it. 400 for a new tub, as the bearing is bulit into the tub, and can't be replace without replacing the tub. $190 for the labor. a 3 year old machine finished because of a bad bearing?? and we're out the cost we paid just 3 years ago, plus the cost of a new one. Well, we certainly know we won't ever buy another GE ANYTHING again.. EVER. I've had the same experience with my Speed Queen washer. Approached the accredited Speed Queen agents for assistance, when tech support was deployed to diagnose the problem. In the end, I was told that the "timer" went bust. So the wash cycle seems to work 100%, but when it comes to rinse and spin the contacts on the timer don't make contact, and the motor waits in anticipation for it's next command, and that the high pitch noise heard.
1) Make sure valve is open all the way 2) some machines have a screen inside of the hose hook up which could be clogged. 3) last check to see if it is the hot or cold by switch your selector switch on your machine to hot then cold. If one of these positions eliminate the noise then the valve in the machine is bad.
genaral electric washing machine fills won,t spin but throws out water as if it did, goes to next cycle same thing, but sounds as if it is spinning but isn,t, hose not clocgged i checked, what else can be the problem, sounds ok but not spinning
the top bearing has gone bad you are looking at replacing the transmition and tub seal about 200 dollars in parts the labor is a little tough also you got to completly disasemble the machine to do this may be best to get a new machine
Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. for detailed help with diagrams and step by step instructions click the linkhttp://www.applianceaid.com/washerspinnoise.html
A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.
