Battery power not lasting

Hi the problem is since returning from Iraq (im in the forces) iv had new batterys in my watch and they only last about 3 days if i try and use any of the functions. When you try the Barometer it comes up ERR. everything else works for the first day. Then you try anything and it all fades untill the battery power goes all together. If anyone has had any problems like this and found a cure please let me know.
Thanks for your time. Steve Please reply at [email protected]

The screen may be damaged. Or just faulty. If it had to go through too much shock, its trash.

Pulsar analog/digital watch model number 130139

Clearly, it is faulty and has some type of parasitic drain. All watch batteries should last a couple of years. My Seiko last for about 3 to 4 years. Return it to Pulsar or a repair agent for repair.

I was given a nexus watch and it does not go. Its a new watch.

may be a battery, many times the watch is tryed or set and put in the case. so it has been running, battery last 2-3 yrs. its common. sometimes the store you got from will replace it or rebate you money for it 10-15 . if it is within 30 days return it. if it is with in the warrant period, send it to the. should have a booklet there or look them up online.

Battery its ctl1616 they said NO NEED FOR BATTERY CHANGE but it's not true. How many year this battery last?

The CTL 1616 is a special device.
It's not really a battery, but a "capacitor", which means, that it's mainly supplied by the energy of the light. The capacitor is designed to maintain the functions only for (short) periods of darkness.
It's NOT a "standard lithium battery", because It has a different voltage (2.3 V instead of 3 V) and consists of different materials.
Unfortunately, the capacitor loses its ability to store the energy over the time. So your watch may be able to maintain all the functions for more than 11 months of darkness in the BEGINNING, but after a few years it may only last for a few hours!
However this may be STRONGLY influenced by the use of the functions: for example the automatic reception of radio signals or using a digital compass may strain the energy seriously.
So, the use of different functions may affect the lifetime of a CTL 1616.
I also recommend to expose the watch to (bright) light as often as possible in order to maintain a HIGH level of stored energy.
I also heared that there were serious problems with the quality of this type of capacitor a few years ago. Maybe a new CTL 1616 will last for decades.

Second hand moving in 4 second increments instead of 1 second clicks. Does this mean it needs service or just a new battery?

Hi,

This means it needs a new battery. But if your watch is about 5 years old it is best to have it serviced. The oils in the movement will be drying out and this causes the gear train to require more power from the battery to make it move. By drawing more power from the battery, the battery will not last as long. This shortening of the battery life continues until the watch is serviced or eventually a new battery will not get the watch to run.

All watches require regular service to stay working properly.

Hope this helps,

Ken

Watch has no power. How do I power it back up?

The catalogue says "never needs a battery" and as it is a "radio controlled " type, then it must have a battery that is charged by power generated by motion.

To get the watch to go, then you should wave it backwards and forwards for some time ( 100's of times according to one maker!). This will charge the battery.

Leave the watch overnight so that it can pick up the timing signal and correct the watch. I did this with mine when the battery was changed and it lost its time and it took a couple of days before it told the right time, so be patient.

If the watch refuses to show any sign of life, then it should be returned to an authorised repair agent for inspection.

I havent worn this watch for about a year the battery has 10 year warranty and was working fine.now it has stopped working.

A few watch companies...Bulova being one of them used to give a 10 year warranty but I dont know of any batteries that actually last 10 years! The average life of a 1.5 volt silver oxide battery is 2-3 years (sometimes a smidge longer) depending on the age and condition of the watch. A 3 volt lithium battery will get on average 3-4 years.

Im guessing that your battery is probably dead! :-)

Longines watch problem

Some longines watch has built-in battery gauge. When battery is low, the second hand jumps every four seconds. If you have new battery installed and the problem persists then there is a short circuit somewhere that drinks a lot of battery juice.
