I have just completed removing tha base from a Toshiba 52 inch HDTV. There are 5 screws in total. Three about 8 inches form the base and another 2 about 4 inches from the base in the arrangement shown below

(X) is a screw
(l) center line

X X X 3 screws 8 inches from base
X l X 2 screws 4 inches from base
______l______ The base

Keep your feet clear as your undoing the last screw..the base slides out vertically downward and weighs about 10-15 pounds so keep your the toes, fingers etc safe. The risk of being sued may explain why Toshiba didn't this publish in the US manual.

My tv is a 42 inch toshiba model#42HL67 im trying to remove the base from the tv so that i can mount my tv

Hi, I have looked into whether or not this t.v. is wall mountable. The only way to tell if this is possible will be to look on the back of t.v. and if wall mounting is possible then there will be 4 screw holes approximately 15 inches apart forming a square. If these " mounting holes are not present then there is no way to mount the wall bracket. Second if holes are present there may be a protective plastic cover at the top of the table top stand where it meets the t.v.. It more than likely is just a snap on type situation and a little bit of prying will pop it off revealing the screws. I hope this has been useful, and thanks for asking FixYa, Good luck- Prodzilla.

I want to remove the pedasal stand so I can wall mount the tv

Hi, Usually there are 4 screws at the back of the tv near the stand that are about 3 inches apart in a square formation, lay the tv screen first on a flat cushioned surface to prevent damage to the screen then remove these screws and pull out the stand.

hope this helps.

I just purchased a 52 inch phillips tv and the stand that the tv sits on adds 2 inches which doesn't allow the tv to fit in my entertainment center. What can I do?? I need a shorter stand...

Just take off the stand altogether if you can lay the TV close enough to a solid vertical support.

My 47'' Philips spent about a year without a stand sitting on a desk and leaning on a wall.

It's heavy enough and as you approach to completely vertical position its main force will be pointing down, not forward.

If you can't lean it on anything solid or if it doesn't sit well while in an entertainment center...not sure what I'd suggest....short of adjustable wall mount stands...

HAVE A SHARP 52" LCD #LC52D65U AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE THE STAND SO I CAN MOUNT IT ON MY WALL. PLEASE HELP ME

On the back of your TV, there are 4 long hex bolts. It should have triangles pointing towards the holes. Take the 4 long hex bolts out and the stand itself should slide out with no problems.

Removal of flat screen pedestal so I can wall mount tv

Had the same issue. I turn the unit upside down and while holding panel down just pulled staight up on the base. The circular base popped off without any damage. I just needed to remove for shipping.so I didn't have to remove the cylindrical post. Once the base is removed you can see a screw that probably attaches that cylinder to the unit. Carefully removing it should work. Good Luck....j

Removal of stand

There are 5 screws in the back of the TV, immediately above the stand. From the stand, they are at the 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, and 2:00 locations. If you remove the screw, and find a washer with the screw, then it's probably the right one. Once all 5 screws are removed, the stand slides right off the bottom. Unfortunately, once the stand is removed, the opening is left in the bottom. It's not too bad since once it's mounted to the wall, it's not high enough to see the bottom of the TV anyway. Good luck!
