Magic Chef Gas Furnace wont stay on for longer then 15 minutes. Pilot goes out after the furnace turns off. It doesn't even reach the desired temp. Do I need to replace the valve or the line leadin

It is not the valve or the wire. Most likley it is the Temp Sensor. A cheap part that take a few minute to install.Search for "White-Rodgers 3L11160" part to see what it looks like. You will need to find the correct one for your model. Look Here. http://www.repairclinic.com

Pilot and burner light then gas shut off model 7900

How many degrees before it reaches desired temp, does it shut off? A thermostat is designed to shut the furnace off a couple/ few degrees before it reaches set temp. It has what is called a heat anticipater, which shuts the burner down, and lets the blower use the remaining heat from the heat exchanger to bring it up to desired temp making it more efficient. If it is more than a few degrees, replace the thermostat. You can jump out the red and white wires to confirm the faulty thermostat. If by doing this, the furnace never shuts down, until you separate the red and white wires. That confirms a faulty thermostat. Hope this helps someone.

My furnace will not reach the desired house temperature in one cycle. It will run for several minutes, shut off, and repeat. It eventually reaches the desired temp but it take a long time and I feel it...

There are a few different reasons for short cycling of a furnace.
1. Inadequate air flow. Not enough air moving through the furnace can cause it to overheat and trip the high temperature limit switch.
check to see that all registers are open and returns are not blocked.
2 Improper heat anticipator setting on thermostat. Some thermostats have a heat anticipator and too low of a setting can cause short cycling.

4 Partially blocked drain hoses. If the condensate backs up into the furnace it can shut the flame off and then when the condensate drains the furnace starts again. Check all drain hoses to make sure they are clear.
These are just some of the possible reasons for short cycling .
Hope this helps.

Does the furnace stays off?.
Furnace are ment to cycle on and off because of limits .If you set to 70 furnace would cycle several times before reaching that temperature.
Just make sure your filters are clean and you got proper return air flow because lack of air flow will cause furnace to shut off sooner than normal

Ruud 90+ Model UGRA 10EZAJS Trips Out

Check for condensation buildup in the Induction Blower housing. The condensate tubes or canister may be blocked and causing the diaphragm switch to trip the unit out causing the burners to shut down.

My furnace will not restart after it reaches the desired temp, then drops below that temp. The on light flashes

If this is a gas furnace, the thermocouple is one likely point of failure. It could also be a clogged pilot light jet.
