Yesterday my friends emachine ET1331G-03w just bought 2 months ago, due to microsoft software updates issues upon restarting her computer won't start windows due to problem above, we tried to do f8 on reboot and then a f10 to do a recovery management to do a system restore, neither way worked past the problem message, there is no recovery disc altho I have an identical emachine would a factory recovery default disc work on hers or not. if not any ideas here she can't afford a new one? Thanks Helen

As the computer is only 2 months old, you should be able to contact Emachines and have
them send you a recovery disc out for the particular model. As the computer may seem identical, in most cases a recovery disc from your computer will not work because of a different
driver or some other small issue.

IT SHUTS OFF AT BOOT UP

Hi
It seems like Operating System failure. Most probably corrupt system files.
  • Try removing the hard drive and re-connecting it.
  • You can also connect the hard drive to another machine (as a slave) for automatic repair.
  • Or run an Original Windows disk and select 'repair' (R) on first page.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

I bought a ET1331G-03w at Wal-Mart. I want to create recovery disks. I follow the instructions given with the product....For Windows 7 click (start)> All programs>emachines> eMachines Recovery...

What type of disks are you using? You cannot use DVD RW. You need to use DVD - R . I have had this very issue. Hope this helps.

PS, once it tries to write to a dvd and fails, try a new one.
