If you have connected the DVD player to the TV set's audio/video input jacks, you need to switch to those inputs using the remote control. Most RCA/GE brand sets don't have a way to do that from the front panel menu buttons. If you are using a universal replacement remote, it may not have a button that works to switch inputs. If that's the case, try an RCA or GE brand universal remote that has an "input" button. That may work.

If you can't get the player working through the set's AV jacks, you can use an RF converter. This device takes the DVD player audio and video and converts it to a channel 3 or 4 (RF) signal that you can tune in on the set. Converters are around $20. You won't get full picture and sound quality with this arrangement, though.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

SOURCE: no signal on TV when we go to watch a movie on the DVD player

You may have to select a different input on the tv. iIs there an "input" put on the tv remote? If not, try channel down.

SOURCE: I don't know what channel the tv is supposed to be on

Hello, you set your TV for channel 3 or 4, if your combo has an out to TV RF connector(threaded connector) or you set the TV for video 1or video 2 if it has the RCA video/audio outs in the rear. If the TV has no auxiliary jacks you will need an RF converter, usually common in any electronics store(radio shack or similar).

How do i set my Toshiba ct-90157 remote to watch dvd's

Most DVD players are connected to one of the rear audio/video inputs--hook to that input and select it on the TV--then hit play and if connected correctly you will see the movie.

We have a 23" Toshiba with a internal DVD player.

No,tv internal DVD player are not on sale by itself as a seperate unit, only can buy it from the tv corporations themselves and it not cheap and have to have experience to putting it in into the tv internal tv itself. The tv internal DVD player now, could be the laser eye data reader have problems reading mp3 and mp4 files on the DVD disc, which are video files. Now tries to play more than one DVD movies dic, tries like to play like 5 to 6 original DVD movies. One disc don't play tries another DVD disc.Tries this might forcing the laser eye reader to read DVD dics again and than might fix it to read video files again.Or just buy an external DVD player hook it up to the tv and play DVD disc on to the tv video modes.DVD players external devices are really cheap these day, like can buy new one for $40.

Playing movies from external hard drive

Hi rox09
Well you can rip your DVD to any external drive using and third party DVD ripping software ,once you do that you will get a AVI,MPEG and any common fomats your DVD player supports

Inorder to play those files in your DVD player ,you need the check whether your DVD has a USB input port or else if you laptop or computer has a S-video out put and your TV has S-Video input ;you can play directly from your laptop/computer to the TV using a S-video Cable which is available in any Computer shop.
I hope this helps

Tv/digital converter box & vcr-dvd hook-up

I have a vhs and dvd player all in one
I have a converter box hooked up to my tv and vcr , dvd player combined
I can play my movies on the tv. ok.
you have to have your tv and vcr set on channel 3. if that is what your main tv is set up with. Or 4 if you have your tv set up with that.
Mine plays ok. My settings are for channel 3
My suggestion would be to check your hook ups. maybe they are not hooked up correctly
I had to go to www.google.com and did searches to help with hook up.
I can also record station I am watching with vcr on vsh tapes. I do not have a dvd recorder.
I found out that you have to have 2 converter boxes hooked to one tv., in order to record on on station while watching another. I have not tried that, as I don't have 2 converter boxes for one tv. I found that by doing google search also. Good Luck

DVD movies do not play

A blue screen means the TV is not receiving a video signal. Check all connections, then try another player, cable, etc. Also, check DVD and TV AV settings.
