Check to make sure that your sensors are correctly aimed and you have a solid green light on one of them. If the opener works only on the wall pad (especially if you have to hold it down) then you are bypassing the sensors.

Check those first and advise.

Why does my 973LM liftmaster remote will only open door bur wont close it?

Most garage door operators (openers) have infrared safety "beams". The door won't close, even with a wired push button, if something is in the way.

Door wont close

Roger, does lights blink when attempting to close door?? If so it is the photo sensing eyes. Be sure they are not blocked and properly lined.
If all is ok, replace the photo sensors. Hope this helps

My garage door opens fine, just wont close with remotes. Lights just flash. I have to use the opener in garage and keep the button pressed in till the door is fully closed or it will reverse.

Clean both safety sensors lens located at the bottom of the garage door frame. Make sure both sensors led lights are lit. If not they are out of alignment and you will have to loosen the wing nut on the sensor that is lit and move it, trying to get the other sensor to light.

Garage door only closes halfway

If the main light is flashing 10 times when the door reverses when closing it is a door sensor problem. You can override this with the door control but not with a remote. Make sure the door sensors are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is on and not flickering.

Door wont close with remot

Your door sensors may have been bumped and are no longer pointing at one another. Tweak them until the small light on each sensor is on and glowing steadily.

Garage door wont work with remote

If the small light in your wall control is blinking it is in the lock mode. Press and hold for 3 seconds the button with the icon of a lock. This will toggle the lock function off.
