Canon A480 - how to set self timer

Just bought a Canon Powershot A480 but manual doesn't indicate how to set the timer. I know there's a self timer from the specs listed at Canon's website.

According to page 57 of my copy of the A480 manual:

Press down-arrow.

Select the self-timer (the 10 inside a clockface).

Press FuncSet.

This sets the self-timer. Press the shutter halfway to focus, and fully to take the shot.

Testimonial: "What came in the package was a brief manual called "Getting Started". However, I did find the official full-feature manual at Canon's website, Thanks."

Need sharp photo of jewelry canon powershot a480

If you need to get close, use the Super Macro scene mode. Otherwise, I'd use the Program mode so as to be able to control the depth of field. I would also use a tripod or other stable support so as to eliminate camera shake. I would also use the self-timer so the camera has a chance to quit moving after I take my finger off the shutter release button.

I bought my camera 4 years ago but till now still i cannot get a picture of me in my canon power shot A410, the problem is i dont know the steps in setting timer to get me a picture. can you please teach...

Press the FUNC/SET button. Use the cursor keys to select Drive Mode. Use left/right to select the desired delay and press FUNC/SET. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

Full details are in the "Using the Self-Timer" section of the advanced guide. (page 35 in my copy). If you need any of the manuals, you can download them from the manufacturer's web site at

How do I set the self timer on my cannon a560 camera?

Press the self-timer button to cycle through self-timer settings. The rectangle indicates normal shooting, the clock indicates self-timer. Depending on the shooting mode, you may also see overlapped rectangles for continuous shooting.

To change the delay time, select [Self-timer] from the Recording menu.

The self-timer button is the same as the down-arrow on the circular multi-selector, marked with a clock.
