Here?s the overview: My only computer is a laptop. I had Comcast internet connected to a Linksys wireless router; I cancelled Comcast and bought an AT&T 3G Sierra Wireless card. There?s an HP wireless printer that I used to print to while I had Comcast. My work involves online access to docs & spreadsheets in my e-mail that I need to print on the wireless HP, so I need the 3G connection AND the WiFi connection active on my laptop at the same time. The AT&T software allows me to choose 3G, WiFi or both, but whenever the WiFi is enabled the laptop looks to the Linksys router for internet access that is no longer available from the router. The 3G connection is live at the time, but the laptop can?t see it (Internet Explorer can not display this page?). Is there a way to tell the laptop to NEVER look to WiFi for internet access- look only at the Sierra card for internet? I spent an hour plus on the phone with AT&T and came up empty.

Generally all laptops with wireless built in have a shutoff button for the wifi connection. While you need the internet turn the wifi off. When you need to print, turn the wifi on, print then turn it off. It is not the best solution, but it should be a short term work-around. The other option is to attach the printer to your laptop with a cable (usb or otherwise). Turn the wifi off. Add more info to your request if this does not solve your problem,

If it solves the problem, leave feedback please.

I need a simple set-up manual for model # WRT54GS router

Your Internet service provider is comcast cable company.
You need to open the setup page of the router and change the Internet connection settings manually.

Connect the computer to the router and modem to the router.
Open the setup page of the router using 192.168.1.1
Click on MAC address clone. Enable it and click save settings.
Power cycle the router and your main computer will be online.
Then you can change the wireless settings manually.

I HAVE A NEW HP DESKTOP AND AN OLD LINKSSY WIRELESS G

Hi Vivian,

Chweck you cables and where they are conencted.

You will need to make sure that the Comcast modem is providing internet, you can do this by connecting your laptop to it using ethernet directly if it connects to the internet, that will be a good thing.

From your comcast Modem, the ethernet Cable should go to the linksys where it says "WAN". this should give you an internet connection and make your comcast modem communicate with your linksys Router.

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.
To secure your router with a login password and wireless security, please follow my instructions - click on this link :-

Connection

Hi Susie
With related to your particular issue it seems like that your broadband modem is not configured for the router. There are basically 2 types of connection. DSL and Cable modem. Verizon, ATT are DSL and comcast other providers give you a normal cable broadband connection. If its comcast make sure the cable from the comcast modem is going to the internet port in the linksys router and also make sure that there is a system connection the linksys router and the cable from the system goes to any of LAN 1, 2, 3 and 4 ports. Then reset your cable modem by using a pin and inserting to the reset hole in the modem. You could use the same step to reset your linksys router as well .If its a verizon or dsl connection you need to put normally your username and password in the router page. here is the link to how to configure linksys for your internet modem.
Here is a video as well on it?

Also post the linksys router model. your ISP modem model number and also information on how many systems are wired to the router and wireless and let me know if you need more help.

I cannot connect with linksys wireless router

From your description, you appear to be connected to the router fine.

Try powering down the modem from Comcast for about 2 minutes then power it back up. If it doesn't come back, call Comcast service as it is likely on their end.

Hope this helps.
