Tip & How-To about Mitsubishi VS-60603 60" Rear Projection Television

VZ5 Chassis mitsubishi VS-60603 With excessive brightness

If experiencing excessive brightness in the VZ5 chassis mitsubishi's it usually can be traced back to a leaky transistor on one of the CRT PC boards. Check Q6R1 on Red PCB, Q6B1on the Blue PCB and Q6G1 on the Green PCB one of these transistors will most likely be leaky

excessive brightness with horizontal retrace lines

This usually means the red, green and blue driver transistors on the CRT board have lost their 180 volt pull up voltage. So you will be looking for a diode off of the flyback transformer that usually will have a current limiting resistor before it that has opened. These resistors are usually low in value.

Mitsubishi VZ5 Chassis VS45603, 50603, 60603 & 50604 ill not power up

Hi,
I have a Mitsubushi model VS-60603, the problem about this TV it is not power on, i was checked and found the R990 burned, this R990 is next to Diode 980, you are giving this solution about this problem, i am going to change this diode, but as I told you the R990 is burned and i don't know what is the value for this resistor, could you tell me please the value of the R990 and if is correct change this diode 980?
I will appreciate if you send me your answer to my email [email protected] , thanks a lot

Sorry i have another question, i don't know what is the thing soldered above the diode 980 is look as a resistor because this componente is damaged, the cover (ceramic is broken).....Could tell me what is it, please?

IM A TV TECH. I HAVE A SONY LCD KP-60XBR800 I HAVE NO RASTER. POWER OK, MENU OK BUT NO RASTER ON TUNER, TUNER VOLTS OK,CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE. THANKS my email [email protected]

check the high voltage with the screen control turned up high where there is no raster. suspect problem within the video circuit where there is no high voltage or defective picture tube.some time when the screen is black and the screen control advanced, you can see if the tv has video or vertical or horizontal problems on the screen.service the high voltage circuit if there is no raster or high voltage is seen.no raster can be caused by the no heater or filament in the CRT.---- a defective picture tube can cause many problems, such as, poor brightness ,missing colors, intermittent picture, poor focus,a single-colored raster, arching in the gun assembly, retrace lines in the picture, negative picture, chassis shutdown, noheater or filament lit and no raster to name a few.an open filament or heater can cause no picture or no raster symptom.a defective CRT can have an extremely bright screen.loose particles of the cathode element can lodge between the grids and cause an intermittent black and white picture. simply tap the ends of the CRT gun assembly and notice if the picture begins to flash off and on.---- with a leaky picture tube after turn on the raster dims and get extremely bright.a dim picture with no green in the raster can result from a bad green assembly. a heater-to-cathode short can cause a raster to change colour or a result in no raster at all.replace the picture tube if there is severe arching in the neck of CRT. excessive brightness with retrace lines and a vertical collapse to a thin line can be caused by a bad coil on the neck board of the picture tube.rejuvenate the picture tube when there is very bright green screen. check for the resistance change on the resistors of the CRT neck board for an excessively bright picture with retrace lines.excessive dust inside the CRT spark gaps within the picture tube socket can cause the very bright raster and the chassis shutdown.a defective video amp, luminance buffer,or reference transistor can cause a bright picture with retrace lines. -------- for getting any required parts to replace you can get it from www.radioshack.com or from www.partstore.com or from www.shopjimmy.com --------- thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

No Picture Has a bright horizontal line with off white & gray vertical bars

The Problem Philips 27TS54 c101 27B800-7562 White horizontal line in the center of the screen. Color is present in the first half inch of the leftist corner of the horizontal line.
Audio is present and controllable. The green power led from a cold non plugged in state remains solid until CRT goes to ignite. A click is heard then the green power LED blinks.
I found service manual diagram of repair part or parts and install instructions
HTTP://WWW.servicemanuals.net/results.aspx?type=SM&brand=100&model=27ts54
I request any info or tips you might have pertaining to this problem
Thank-you

On the CRT circuit board(picture tube), you will find R3340, which is a 10 ohm 1/3w resistor. The location of the resistor is printed on the bottom of the ckt board. It is burned open, replace with a 10 ohm 1/2w resistor. This will solve your problem. The original resistor was sized too small, should have been a 1/2 watt. This resistor is mounted standing up on ends. Mount the replacement resistor the same way. Be careful and don't get the circuit trace too hot and damage the circuit trace. (it's very small) The resistor is located on the crt(cathode ray tube), pcb(printed circuit board) socket. The resistor supplies apx +200v to the collectors of the r, g, b, video driver transistors. If this voltage is low, it causes excess brightness(excess beam current), causing the set to "shut-down". If the shut-down is too quick, you will NOT see the excess brightness, because the picture tube has not warmed-up enough to display anything on the picture tube. To see if the set displays "excess brightness", you will need to turn the set "on" about 5 to 10 times. This will heat the picture tube enough to display "excess brightness", IF that is the PROBLEM. Of course, there are OTHER defects that will cause a tv to shut down. There are built in safety circuits, that will "activate" if excess voltage/current or heat is detected anywhere in the set.

NOTE
My resistors are not numbered the same on my crt board APT187. GSM 02/20/2008
