It leaves soap on the clothes after it goes thru the cycle and I noticed that the top part of the agitator doesn't move hardly. The washers model # is LSR8233JQO and the serial # is CK4729250, Type 111.

dose the drum actually turn & spin? if not then most likely the machine's clutch is worn or broken...go to you tube for repair video.

This model has gone through different control board revisions, could be control board related, service mode would have to be accessed to have machine run thru self-diagnostics. if it does not agitate on self-diag mode, unit needs board

My parent's Hotpoint did the same thing!! The brake on the bottom of the tub is not engaging! It needs replaced!!

Your service man is right, the lint is filtered through the filter plugs on the bottom of the tub, and backflushed out during the spin cycle. This does not do a great job of filtering out the lint that came out of the clothes. So why is there so much lint? Three reasons: 1. Clothes being beaten against the agitator, tub, each other. The Whirlpool washer has a pretty decent way of agitating the clothes without too much damage, as long as there is plenty of water for the clothes to move through. As long as you make sure your load size and water level are correct, this shouldn't cause a lot of lint. I always have a larger water level than the load size calls for. 2. Lower quality material in the clothes. We definitely see this a lot, especially in the cheaper towels, rugs, sweaters, ect. Some of these have such cheaply made fibers, that they put out a lot of lint. 3. Laundry soaps. Most soaps are very caustic detergents and eat the fibers right out of the linens. There are some brands of washers that still use a type of metal in them that this soap eats right up, so in a few years the machine is junk. All of the washer manufacturers went to plastic outer tubs, as the soap was literally eating holes in the outer tubs in 2 to 3 years on some brands. This is one of the reasons we have so much of the micro lint that is so fine, it goes right through your dryer lint filter and causes lint build up in the venting itself. Years ago, at our shop in Hawaii, we tested naturopathic soaps for 12 years before we settled on the Melaleuca brand for our laundry soaps. Ph neutral, cleans the clothes better than any brand we have tested before or since, does not leave the sludge in the outer tub that most brands do, does not leave a hard aggregate in the tubs like some other brands do, is cheap and does not cause the allergys, athsma, skin rashes, ect. that most of the caustic brands are doing. We have used it for over 10 years now and see very little lint in our Whirlpool washer. Look it up online, join it, and buy the soap directly from the company. It sounds like you have done everything else correctly to the washer, that you could have. I am impressed, most people could not have done what you did. Hope this helps. Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.

I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.

Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.

Washer stops, won't fill, rinse or agitate


• Check the following:
Is the power cord plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet?
Is the indicator on the Cycle Control knob properly lined up
with a cycle? Turn the Cycle Control knob to the right slightly
and pull to start.
Are the water inlet valve screens clogged?
Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on?
Is the water inlet hose kinked?
• Does the water level seem too low, or does the washer
appear to not fill completely? The top of the agitator is
much higher than the highest water level. This is normal and
necessary for clothes to move freely.
• Has a fuse blown or is the circuit breaker open? If problem
continues, call an electrician.
• Are you using an extension cord? Do not use an extension
cord.
• Is the washer in a normal pause in the cycle? The washer
pauses for about 2 minutes during certain cycles. Allow the
cycle to continue. Some cycles feature periods of agitation
and soak.
• Is the washer overloaded? Wash smaller loads.
• Is the lid open? The lid must be closed during operation.
Washer will not agitate or spin with the lid open.

Keeping in mind that the soap & bleach gets dispensed into your wash on the second to last rinse cycle and that most all rinse cycles are in cold water. Is your cold water valve screen plugged causing your washer to rinse poorly? Are you using the HE detergent? If not maybe the washer is sudsing up to much and having a hard time rinsing all the suds and bleach out and leaving the clothes soapy.

Fill the washer up with no clothes in it on a cold/cold wash setting does it take a long time to fill the washer up? Also when it is full and agitating is there suds in the washer?

Last suggestion is if the drain is hose is a lot higher than the top of the washer it might have a hard time draining out all of the soap water before the next load

Im sorry to say, it sounds like the transmission in the washer may have gone out, the unit it self sits at the bottem of the main agitator shaft under the the tub, you may be able to have this replaced, but shop around for the right price.
