Clock display won't stay lit

My daughter leaned against the control panel on our Kenmore stove and now our clock display won't stay lit. It keeps the correct time and still works, you just have to press the clock button for it to display the time. What buttons do I need to press to make the display stay lit? I can't find it in the manual anywhere...

Same thing happened to our Kenmore range and I found a solution on the web about fixing this problem on a fridgedaire range. It was to hold down the clock button for an extended time ~15 sec. It worked for our kenmore and hopefully for yours too.

On mine I had to hold the clock button and the start button at same time for several seconds. Then you get a beep and a message to hit the start button. Now hit the start button. Do all this again to turn it back off.

I held the clock button down for 15-sec, and it reset itself. It works fine now :)

You should be able to access the clock from the back panel. Make sure the power is off and you can disconnect the power to the clock motor. Tape off the wire to prevent it shorting out against the case. generally the white wire is the neutral and can be safely disconnected without affecting the clock operation of the oven. Some clocks also control the oven operation. Make sure that you are not disconnecting this feature.

Probe light on convection oven stays on. Clock won't display. Oven still works though.

Sounds like the control board is not communicating correctly with the rest of the unit, consult a professional.

Hello, can you help, my daughter has just moved into flat which has a stoves 720 EF double oven. For some reason we cannot get it off the Auto mode, We have tried every possible combination of the five...

It could be that the clock is on the way out, or the buttons that control the clock have dirty contacts. espares can get you a new clock/timer. What you can do is with the oven switched off, rapidly press all the clock buttons one at a time to try and remove the dirt. Switch the oven back on and see what happens. If you need a handbook, post an email address and I will send you a pdf copy.
I have answered other posts in this section on how to use the timer, so check there if you don't have the information.

Having taken the oven out to fix a problem with the hob (720EF double oven and grill), reinstalled the oven and powered –up, the clock won’t come on and stay on, the oven and hob appear to work! Any...

Both the top and bottom oven will only work if a time (any time) has been set on the clock. Setting the time operates a contact to switch the power through. The only exception is the grill. This will work even if the time has not been set. So if the oven controls/lights and heating work, to me it means that the clock/timer is half working and the only thing that isn't is the display.
I haven't had the clock/timer to bits but a fellow blogger has said that in some timers there is an electrolytic capacitor that controls the display. When this fails as they are renowned for doing, the dispaly mal functions. If there is one then Maplin have some - VHR41W/43W and DT64U depending on value etc. Let us know how you get on.
If you need a new clock/timer they are around £80 from espares.

Oven doesn't work, stove does

If it's a Whirlpool or Kenmore oven (or one of several other brands that are made by Whirlpool) then this error code means:

F1 - E1 Safety flip flop Replace Electronic Range Control/Clock (ERC)

The system believes that the control board has failed and needs to be replaced.

This page has a list of diagnostic codes by brand and model number. You should check there to look up your particular brand to confirm what I just said.
