SCSI BIOS not installed / ML150G2, exchanged mainboard, RAID

Hi,

I have an HP ML150G2 server and the mainboard got defected after a year. I got a new mainboard, but the problem seems to be that I had RAID 1 on the old mainboard - with the adaptec 2120S SCSI controller - so the RAID configuration is not found on the new mainboard, so now if I boot up with the old 2 hard disks, I get "SCSI BIOS not installed" and then "No operating system found". The hard disks are still functional, because I have an identical server and they boot normally in that server.
Can I add the BIOS/RAID configuration without formatting the hard disks?
Or can I rebuild the SCSI BIOS from the hard disks?

there are 2 menus for the scsi adapter, both accessible with Ctrl-A. the 2nd one shows something like this:

Manage Arrays
Create Array
Initialize..
Rescan Drives

But none recognizes the hard drives. Although they are recognized while booting.

Thanks

Hi..
my guess is no but since i haven't dealt with this type of server i'm going to suggest you go to hp.
if you just goto hp.com and search on live chat and a link will come up.. they should be able to help unless it's too old since i'm not sure what generation we are on now..

good luck, hope this helps a little..d

mmmm... that's interesting bc my partner is an account manager there and she only sells high end servers and that's what she uses.. i'll have to ask her about that, maybe there is a different site.. thanks, d

How to installed xp2 in server hp proliant ml 350 my hard drive ok

You may need raid controller driver for HP proliant ml 350. Copy raid controller driver in flopy disc, insert it in flopy drive, insert cd in cd driver, boot server from cd and start installation process, as soon as you see Press F6 if you need to install third party scsi drivers or raid controller, press F6 and follow the instruction. It will then ask you to select RAID driver file and then will continue to windows xp installation.

Proliant does not boot from raid controller if external SCSI drive is powered on.

Try to disable boot to other device on your bios setting.

Make sure that your Smart Raid is set on the first boot device.

Unable to boot to anything external.

Save yourself some trouble. Pull a CD/DVD drive out of another computer or just buy one. They are very cheap. Connect the CD/DVD drive to the server and install the OS as usual.

If you are lucky WS2008 will already have a compatible SCSI/RAID driver. Otherwise, you will need to press F6 and install the driver from the floppy.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Prolinat ML350 G2 WONT BOOT UP

You have apparently attempted to attach a tape drive or other similar device to a SCSI RAID controller. You will need to get a separate SE SCSI HBA instead. These are pretty cheap, usually just over $100 list from HP.

If you haven't attached anything new, then you should check your cables first and if that doesn't help I would suspect a bad RAID controller.

Pci ide controller for third hard disk

You need to enter into scsi bios first, then do an autodetect for hard drive, this will set the IDE/SCSI hard drive on raid controller.

To enter SCSI control you need to press the same key stated on screen on startup (F6 I assume) I think F3 is just boot settings.

If the card do not enter regularly in CMOS settings for the raid then this card is defective.

I want to format scsi drives and configure raid0

You can either do this in the BIOS or (easier) just run a Linux installer (such as Ubuntu) and it will offer to do it for you when it sees Windows-formatted partitions.
